...a little.
Supposedly the highest priced house ever on the market in the US, it's called Portabello Estate. Which isn't even correct Italian. Custom-built for Frank Pritt, the founder of software company Attachmate Corp. Quote:
Pretty vulgar, yet there's something to be in awe at for everyone. I love the curves that make it look like something George Jetson would live in. But, the interior decorating is all wrong. On the whole, just a tad overstated. ![]() |

Instead of starting a new thread, I'll just post in here, since it's real-estate-related.
What do you guys think, for 2400 a month? There are high-rise condo's all over Waikiki and Honolulu, and the views are great. If you're gonna live in a city, Honolulu is a good place to do it. http://honolulu.craigslist.org/oah/apa/316099910.html Dig those views, eh? ![]() Ehh...2400 a month. Maybe not. |

Sorry. That's not, IMO, a great view. I can't see dropping 2k a month to look at some streets and buildings. Pass.

Well, I want to live in a big city for once and for a year or so in my life. I love cities at night. I'm not too fond of many aspects of it, but like I said, as far as cities are concerned, this is a nice one, even though it has its share of problems any city does. Bad air is not one of them, though. Plus, there are other high rise condos that cost less, but I wouldn't want to be looking out directly at another building full of windows looking right back at me. That would suck. I would probably be more suited to live in a loft, though. Problem is, lofts are trez trendy and sky high in costs as a result. My realtor friend in Hawaii says that rentals are coming down, just like many places. And I would MUCH prefer this than where I am, less than a mile to massive freeway arteries that are always clogged, always noisy, always blocking out the stars at night, shall I go on? Orange County in a word: sucks. Besides, the eventual goal is to get to North Shore, Oahu. ![]() Edit... here's a studio apartment on the Windward Side, with some nice ocean/mountain views. 1100 a month. A little small for my taste.Another thing....so many of these places are offered furnished. No likey that. ![]() |

Ha! Your friend hasn't looked at the San Francisco rental market lately. I've heard of studio apartments going for $1500 a month.
We're currently experiencing another rental vacancy decrease here due to the prices of homes being ridiculous.

Oh I know San Francisco is thru the roof. I don't see it ever being anything other than that, it's beautiful there. Same with New York as far as rents, even moreso, but I would never want to live there. Creepy fucking place.
