Back on topic! Back on topic!
![]() I'm trying to click on that 3d atlas link, but.... OH! I'll go click on it. ![]() Edit... Okay, Adobe Shockwave's done installing. Shows what I know. I used to be the astronomy whiz in grade school. Got made fun of on the playground, etc etc etc. Geeks RULE! Anyways, I was under the impression that Alpha Centauri was our closest neighboring star.... Isn't it four light years away, and why don't I see it there? ![]() |

Yeah, I guess it's not got planets, or none that we know of, anyway. Perhaps because it's a triple star system?

That must be it, no large gas giants. Most of the hydrogen in that system must have been used up in the formation of the stars.

The opinions expressed by the writer do not necessarily reflect his actual opinion.

What are the current theories on how to reach a planet so far away?
And once we get there, would we try and alter the planet to make it more suitable for our needs, or would we alter humans so that they could comfortably live on the planet?

Either that, or some monstrously powerful rocket like antimatter or a Bussard Ramjet. But I like the idea of using energy given away for free. .

By the standards that are set Mars is habitable.
Plus why does it matter? If I look at Earth from 500 lightyears away I will never see life on this planet. It's not like you can see cities and things from that far away, plus it would also be theyear 1507 I would be looking at. NASA doesn't know how to look for life, they should just keep looking in our solor system and let the aliens come to us. |
