I thought as a fitting tribute to our very own Professor of Photoshop, we could all post our favourite pieces of his particular art? I recently remembered I had this photo for example:

Sickness split? Damn. I had no idea.

To say he'll be missed will be a gross understatement. At least from where I stand.

And that goes for Boki as well.
We've shared a lot of convos over the years, and proved to be a good friend.

Now I feel like ranting...

Over several years of my time here online, I've come to know some great folks
in here. I've met several of you, as you know, and without question,
all of those moments were marked with sheer bliss and a kid-like glee.
It was beautiful.

Then something happens that reeks so fowl it can only be described as complete
and utter dog shite: two buds that I considered friends get fed up and split like a rotten banana.

Not to necessarily rag on them personally, as I still hold them dearly as friends, but dammit,
what is it with the complete melodramatic flares that are determined to come up
like Jakester's love stains after hazing a few Mania noobs for breakfast when someones
decides to up and leave a bulletin board???

You stand in the middle of the room, raise up your nose in the air,
give a dramatic SWISH to the scarf around your neck, cry out to the four winds

"FAREWELL!!" in classic Bette Davis bitchery, then storm off into that sunset
with a haughtiness of a scorned woman who suddenly feels the need to free herself
from the bonds of a bitterly soured relationship? Are you serious?
"No more for me! I'm off to greener pastures! I'm off to do better things with my life!"
Uh, yeah. Face it. You're probably going to be doing the same crap a year from now
that you were doing when you left. Nice claim to personal progress. Can't wait to see
you grow to that moment when you finally see your self-esteem rise up a notch higher than your post count.

Why I tell you? WHY are we determined to act so foppishly? Why the flare?
Why the OVER THE TOP OVER EFFEMINATE GAY DRAMA??? (Sorry Bill)
When you look at the history of all the folks that were legitimately good friends and
posters in here, then see how they up and leave, what is it that ALWAYS happens?
Probably one of the following:
-A final post saying "I'm outta here. I. have. had. E-NOUGH!"
-Creating a new thread with the uber-announcement requiring trumpeters to call in
all the villagers that the King is about to speak with a final decree for the realm!
-A sudden blurb of posts that symbolize a break down of mental acuity, and results
in spams of a most abhorrent nature.
-An instant message (ooh! That'll show 'em) is sent to the Administrator about the sudden shock of dissatisfaction with a bulletin board that has the nerve to do anything that lacks of firm discipline, and instead, display the disgusting traits of being human. How rude!!!
-Post in non-threatening threads for a couple weeks like polls about who's the best
Star Trek captain, or who does Spider-man's tailoring? (Being sure to stay far the hell away from ones fiercely debating "if a blue state turns red, does that mean it should be called purple?") And post less and less, until, in a fit of sudden finality, the last post reads "You people suck donkey balls! You can BITE ME!!!" in of all places, a thread about the banality of modern literature in a capitalistic society.

I know this place can be sorely addicting. But few recognize exactly what it is that is so affecting. Is it the people? Is it the banter? Is it the commeraderie? Is it the social
atmosphere it provides? The truth is that we all have our own reasons for loving or
"being addicted" to this place. Sure they can be the same for quite a few of us.
But what we get out of it may be the reason why we keep coming back, which is where
I think the greater differences lie.

But now for some of the reasons from those that decided to leave, you have to wonder if

the threat of favoritism is real, imagined, or accidental. Does that warrant abandoning
a bulletin board? Because a stubborn belief that a certain trend or philosophy is suddenly
going to derail an entire BB, that's grounds for getting out?
This WEBSITE HAS BEEN THROUGH WORSE!!
AND MOST OF THEM STAYED THROUGH THAT!!!!

Look. If you're going to leave, leave. Go amicably into that good night of the living
world, and part as friends, rather than in a huff. Throwing the baby with the bathwater
gets you nowhere except all wet with a serious problem crying on the floor.
Cutting off all of your losses while severing valid good ones is PURELY bad form.
It's stupid. It's assinine. It's immature.

It's one thing to take a break. ALL of us need that from time to time, but the truth is
the dust always settles. Things change. People change. People change their mind
on issues all the time its called life, regardless if that's occurring in the real world,
or in an online bulletin board. So be pissed off. Be mad. Be livid.
Take a break. But quitting shows something else quite different.
Just because you're mad at someone doesn't mean you quit on the friends you made here
too. What's up with that?

So great. Now we're left with having to photoshop pictures of Meathead's ass to relive
fond memories you left behind? (pun?)

To say that both of you will be missed is an understatement. It's sad.
Go in peace. Be well. Do unto others as you would have them do to you.
Just know if you dare return to show your faces in here...

....it'd put a welcome smile on our faces.

Peace.

STOP SAYING SORRY!

First of all, I'm not the only gay person here, and I'm definitely not effeminate, not that there is anything WRONG with it. But geez! I only got riled up at Phatty because he took a deliberately boneheaded homophobic stand. I only gave Jayce whatever the riot act because he used a term like "pathetic queer".....or when some straight guy wants to use "gay" as a slander against another straight guy....(like that comment) but don't single me out, that's kind of insulting twice in a row........I'm NOT an activist, and I will be the first to say that there is a lot WRONG with the gay community, and I'd be the first to call someone on being a drama queen (a lot of you guys are) as there is for ANY segment of the population.....demographic, gender, race, religion....EVERYBODY.

And I don't seek out my friends based on sexual preference. I base my friends on how good they are as individuals.

Which has nothing to do with my overriding belief that the human race is savage and violent at its core, and will most likely ultimately fail.

There. I'm finished, and I pass the ranting stick back to you.

edit....

ugh. I'm going to sell coffee.

Heh. Good thoughts, friend. Personally, I think Yellowstone's Super Massive Volcano will erupt within the next 40-70 years and mankind will be utterly fucked while Earth itself laughs its silly ass off at the equilbrium factor.

Great rant, Traz and you summed up my thoughts perfectly even knowing I'm really sometimes at fault behind such actions.

I remember losing a few other users not too long ago when I had to dismantle some forums and I still regret it even if I knew the forums were needed to go. But that's something else.

The fact is I got advice earlier this week from a lady whom is "always right" and I'm going to be living with such advice for the foreseeable future. Somethings can be changed or stopped and somethings can't. People will get angry from time to time over something I or some other does in the community and nothing can really stop it.

That's how it goes really. You have to take the good with the bad and deal with it and sometimes, that goes over really well...sometimes, it doesn't.

As for Boki and Sickness, I seriously miss them. I have missed Bok for months but it should be noted that he didn't create a thread or post saying he was leaving...and I tried talking to him privately saying to just take a break for a while (so maybe that's what hes doing or maybe not). He didn't cause a lot of attention then run out the door. That wasn't his style.

Here's hoping that we hear from people who've left on their own choices again. That everything we learned from them stays within us and that we meet them again on another aspect of online life even if we never get to share a beer with them in real life.

I make a promise to you all. If I ever leave...

It will not be over political or social issues.
It won't be that I can't stand a poster or hate this or that thread.
I will not slouch off towards Bethlehem because I am so pissed off at the board that I am spitting nails.
I won't come in here, ask for everyone's attention, and say, "I'm mad as hell, and I'm not going to take it anymore." Then lurk for the next month to see if everyone tries to lure me back through PMs and funny jokes.
I won't call out posters for their actions.
I won't firmly throw my opinions or beliefs in everyones faces.'
It will not be a hearlded event.
It will not be a bang or a whimper.

One day, I'll leave because I will have finally gotten a life....

or couldn't pay for internt.....

Oh, and I'm fastcar by the way.....been around since 2001. Just in case you wondered. ;)
