Default What a rim job

Lawyer calls for DNA test in Tim Hortons dispute

By CP

MONTREAL —A Montreal lawyer wants a DNA test on a prize-winning Tim Hortons coffee cup that has already pitted two elementary school girls against one another. Claude Archambault said his client, whom he declined to name, bought the coffee cup that was picked out of the garbage bin by a 10-year-old girl at her elementary school in St-Jerome, north of Montreal.

According to media reports, the 10-year-old who plucked it from the garbage can last Tuesday couldn’t unroll the rim with her small fingers and asked for help from a 12-year-old school mate. When the cup turned out to be a winner, one of 30 with Toyota RAV4 written under the rim, a dispute erupted over who had claim to the $28,700 prize

I think it needs to be said that rolling up the rim of your coffee cup is a digusting process. Saliva moistened cardboard and coffee stained pants are my usual rewards. Although, I do know a guy who won a fatass BBQ a couple of years ago. He left it out on his back deck all winter and it rusted to sh*t.

First of all, what is a 10 year old doing drinking coffee? Second, don't you have to be 18 to claim a prize?

Everybody knows that french girls mature much earlier.

However, in this case, it was a male teacher that purchased and consumed the coffee. The ten year old merely pulled it from the trash.

Rules and Regulations

"To be eligible to claim a prize, a person must be a resident of Canada who has reached the age of majority in the province or territory in which he/she resides. In the event a person under the age of majority receives an eligible RIM TAB, they are permitted to transfer the RIM TAB to their parent or legal guardian, who will then be the eligible entrant'"

I imagine the girl's parents and their lawyer have read this particular clause. A few times.

I heard about that, pretty stilly. I wonder if the legal bills will excede the cost of the truck?

Well, in that case... The guy who bought the coffee threw the cup away, relinquishing any claim to a prize. If he was too stupid to check for a winner, then he is too stupid to win. Therefore, the girl who retrieved the cup, through her parents, is entitled to the prize. For helping her unroll the rim, the 12 year old should receive a thank you. If the first girl's parents decide to partner a thank you and a check, that is entirely up to them.

I agree and I'll go one further. The teacher should be let go for presenting a legal argument that's weaker than Granpa's bowels.

It made the first page of the "Journal de Montréal" a few weeks ago. My comment was .

It will indeed cost him more in lawyer fees than the prize. Archambault is a clown but he doesn't work for peanuts! :dunno:

"Roll up the Rim" is a scam. All I ever get is a free coffee or donut or something. And I buy their stuff every day!

Gimme the plasma tv. Or the truck! First thing I'd do is sell the damn thing...
