With a few exceptions, I don't think they need the location text at all.

I kept up with the show and I'm totally hooked now. It's still a little hokey, but compelling and endearing.

I think I've missed one or two episodes, but I kept up with the show fairly well. It's enjoyable, but still not at "can't miss" status for me.

The location text reminds me of Panic Room a little too much, but it doesn't bother me. Also, I found myself more and more interested in the show as it progressed from the horrible (imo, of course) pilot.

The pilot was bad. The next couple of episodes weren't much better, but it's definitely improved to where I make sure I stay caught up within a week or so.

Fringe is a blatant (but good) Ecch-Files rip-off... only this time it actually worked. It managed to convince the fans they were watching something original.

I have a feeling thats why its not on many peoples "must see" TV radars.

For a time, I had also picked up Eleventh Hour, but dropped it because it just wasn't interesting enough. Although I like Sewell and the chick is hot, it just was too much like all of the other procedurals out there.

Fringe is very X-ish, but since we haven't really had anything like that on TV for a while, that's not so bad.

Wow. What a God-awful return last night.
First, This: is a rhinovirus, which causes the common cold.
Second, a virus is not, strictly speaking, a living organism. It is not a cell, despite what Walter claimed. It doesn't slither or try to escape anything. And I don't want to hear how the average person wouldn't know that. This shit is high school bio. If they don't know it, then they're fucking morons.
Third, how the hell would whatever was in the water cause only ONE virus to grow, and not several hundred to thousands which would be living in the body?
Fourth, creepy sexual assult guy. No where in even a distant alternate universe where a government even pretends to be responsible would he get oversight on whether his accuser/prosecutor gets to keep her job.

Abrams seems to have trouble writing this show. He should stop.
