"Special Needs". Does this mean anything to people here?
calklais wants to be an artist and does funny impressions, it says. Are the pictures your funny impressions? I want to drive a train when I grow up. |

Constructive criticism is what the UIR is for, not purely posting to slag off an artist. P.S. I ask the group to accept my apologies for the mis-use of this thread.
I have no constructive criticism to offer as I cannot draw to save my life... as you may well see. However here's some non-constructive praise: "Incredible Bob" - all your posted stuff is great, but Mr Anderson is the best. "Trilbix" - Also superb. Human Torch wins for me. The "Wolfsbane Sketch" also stands out. The lips are particularly tasty. And what are rules for, if not to be broken? That's why we'll always beat the machines... |

Gunwitch by loserkid292: Nice, one of your better ones. You could have cut the star out better though. Smallville Promotional Concept by localhero: Good Job, you pulled off the shirt plastic well. She Brings DEATH by StatXero: Greatness. Mr. Anderson by incredible_bob: "My Name Is Neo" Nice job the coding is a nice add in. I too have a Matrix job in today ![]() DARK KNIGHT & CAT-GIRL STRIKES AGAIN ! ! ! by HELEN~: Nat bad, the lighting need to be lined up better between the two and Cat Girl could have been cut out better, good job on her costume though. Pixel Solid Snake. by Robert Sarr: Nice first submission. Welcome to the DCG. You should check out the Art School here it will help you out a bit also the Hints and Tips topic in the DCG board. Check out some of dperceful's links they're very helpful. Super-Possibilities by Spiderman620815: Not bad, their skin tones dont match well nor the lighting. The metallic look you were trying for I dont really see, but the plastic wrap did its job. The S still looks nice this way but I just dont see the metallic look you were going for.Hulk vs Thing by Martzgar: Very nice, did you draw this then scan and color or did you do it all on the computer? Shadowcat Infeltration by FLYIN' RYAN: Look pretty good, the floor in front of her is a bit blurry but doesnt effect the picture too much good job. Films2Comics: Free Your Mind by The_Vampire:Spider: Ahh this is crap kick this guy out of the DCG for subjecting people to this horrible work.... ohh thats mine I take that all back Yeah I know its late.Gambit: Ace Up the Sleeve by swingerbone: Great job, its still has a little pposer feel to it but much better than most poser started works a mans view of pms page 1 by avgs: Ok I will leave no comment dont want to tick off any of the opposite sex because where ever this is going will probally do that. She Brings DEATH : A Death manip that actually looks cool.
Mr. Anderson : I really like the style. I think you could have added a border to the image, because of the white background. The Matrix logo is kinda lost here. Hulk vs Thing: Nice drawing. The colors are a bit too bright, but I think it goes well with your style. Gambit: Ace Up the Sleeve : Nice work with poser. But since itīs 3d you could come up with some cooler angles and poses. Nightcrawler : Wow... really good. The pose and colors are great. You did ALL this with a wacom pad? amazing... Wolfsbane scetch : nice sketch. cool hair on her face... that would look nice in color. |

due to my last UIR i thought it best to take a day to step back and take a day off.
UIR-5/14/03 gunwitch: much better job of cleanud up edges. still seems to blah though. smallville promotional: nice and simple. no real complaints. colors are good, lighting is nice. textures are good as well. she brings death: very nice. favorite pic of the update, tied with nightcrawler/trilbix. that face is beautiful. the left arm seems a tad too smudgy. hair is excellent. nice work, great atmosphere to this pic. mr anderson: much different feel to than your other work. the perspective seems too deep, but that's probably just me. dk and catgirl: she doesn't seem to be resting on his shoulder. the straps on pfeiffer are incomplete, please notice the left shoulder. try matching up the lighting on catgirl with batman. nice concept, a little more follow thru would be nice. pixel snake: interesting. haven't seen to much pixel work here. for what it is it's good. Can't wait for MGS 3: Snake Eater, for more http://ps2.ign.com/articles/401/401702p1.html super possibilities: okay, he just looks tubby. i think it's the blue part of the suit. the smudging on the right part of the neck is just awful. i'm not trying to be mean, it just doesn't blend. welling's face is pixelated, a little smudging would fix that right up. hulk vs thing: superb first submission. that is true 70's hulk. thing looks great as well. maybe a little more than a gradient backgroud next time. maybe a cheesy "BAM" "POW" explosion. nice work. shadow cat: looks nice. not much involved, still good looking mask. maybe a gentle phase where her body meets the floor. free your mind: simple and effective here. i could see that as a comic cover. maybe clean up the matrix logo at top, clean up the black that masks over the numbers. nice work. gambit: this is begging for a pose or a power signature on the card he is holding. he doesnt' have any life in his face, some expression would be nice. this is a great poser model, just a little action would really kick this up. a man's view of pms: okay, this is early in the series for a UIR, with that title i don't if there is symbolism with the loadig dock and the truck unloading it's cargo. i'll just wait on this one. still it looks nice. ghost rider comp: i love that text. the skull looks nice. flames could use some work, but this is nice work. is that text created or an action. okay and on matthew lillard as blaze, wtf are you thinking? that's like casting Webster as Luke Cage. nightcrawler: nice, nice, nice. no complaints, tied for favorite pic of the day. this is really nice work. wolfsbane: i hate you sketchers. i would kill to be able to do something like this with effort. scribbled....start scribbling my depression. nice work, i know what your capable of so i know this isn't your amazing work, but this is really good stuff. put this in your portfolio along with a later finished version to show your progression of character. people like to see that creation process. dperceful |

Glad some people seemed to like my work... others seemed to skip or ignore... oh well.
Gambit was just a little experiment to see what I could do to a Poser figure. I created the pose to be like a Loner stance, without action on purpose. His face is stoic because that's the image that sticks in my mind. I chose not to go with a sly grin that he too often has. This is a more somber Gambit. As for the card, I was re-inventing the power signature in my own mind. It involves the energy halos flowing like a spiral from his hand, seemingly out of his sleeve (Title from that idea) and the card begins to emit a yellow-to-pink light as it is charged. That's my vision of the card... never went for the matrixy yellow design from the cartoon, and didn't want the just pink signature I saw in the reference pics. I want more primal energy... the halo of lightning like light as he metabolizes the potential into the kinetic. If you don't like it, well you are entitled to you opinion same as I am entitled to mine... but I just want to say up front that this is my interpretation of Gambit. Thanks to those you have commented... and maybe my next piece will be Gambit in action. Just need to find my inspiration..... Gotta jet... moving out of the dorms.... UIR to come when I get some more time... I just wanted to pass this along before the slew of UIRs because of the lack of update Also I take great care in trying to get across a lot of info in my Art notes, and would appreciate it if you gave them a glace before you UIR.. you might find a point you plan to make already addressed in them or here. |
