Hey folks, as you can see, we have another dperceful tutorial up! However, due to technical difficulty, the first one had to be temporarily taken down. Sorry about that. It should, however, be back up soon

In the meantime, enjoy the brand new one!

Great tutorial dperceful - very useful indeed. Just one question: how come Allyssa Milano ends up lighter in the final version that at the start? Is that just because you altered the lighting, or is that what you're saying the end result of the smudging is supposed to be?

when i set the layer mode to screen and left it at 100% the image itself brigtens up big time. changing the layer mode is just an option, it's just something i do to give the skin more warmth. if you don't want to brighten the image then i would set the layer mode to overlay and adjust the opacity to the right lighting level. of course you don't even have to change the layer mode, it's just a thing i do for blending purposes. the actual end smudging result pic with no layer modes messed with is right by the "After a little bit of time here is my smudged results. Much improved, but we can still do a little more...." text.

thanks for the comments.

As well as links to the previous threads, I am from #3 onwards including a link to both our Art School and Mike's DSN site in each opening post of a new Hints'N'Tips thread.

This should help keep all these lovely sources of info uppermost in everyone's minds
