Just starting the topic so Mike doesn't have to wonder where it is tomorrow. Proper UIR later. Hopefully.

Yeah, looks like, as the order of uploading goes here, that another one of the CATASTROPHIE Magna Carta wallpaper screenshots makes the list again.

Believe me folks, I believe this to be the last that I've uploaded, and you'll begin to see some new uploads. Hopefully before the Labor Day holiday....

Until then, post your comments as you see fit. I can handle it... ...Thanks!

**What does someone do while waiting for a hurricane? Well, they do a UIR of course. *

1) MC Phantom Of Avalache RMX by Level1: Another kool piece in a kool set.
The only nit I have is the overlaying shadow on the girl in the right side of the
background, it should contour to the body. Unless she's just a 2/D image on the wall, but she's casting a shadow aswell, which if so just confuses things IMO. But all in all a nice piece.

***2) BATMAN The Long Halloween by joker21: Nice collage. Good casting (I think). The lighting is sporadic. I like what you did to Denzel, but you could've mangled the ear a little, & bulged the eye a bit. And it is really hard to see Cat Woman. BTW, I really like the casting of Denzel as Two Face.

***3) Happy Birthday! The Crow? By NightScroller: Good start, it could be better. The face could use more definition, other than the black paint it's very washed out. He needs shading, & highlights in the proper places, also, the _expression doesn't fit the mood of the piece. The Crow is dark, & moody. Also the edges of the hair could be cleaner, & lastly the head needs a body. I mean you went to the trouble of putting him on a background, you could've maybe put the head on Brandon Lee's shoulders. I tell you all of this because you made it this far, & you can go farther.

***4) InterKnight by vegeton: This has got some smudginess issues, it's very painty, which can be kool, but the boots don't match, & the edges need to be cleaner. If the boots matched the rest of the picture, & it was a little cleaner, it would improve the pic immensely. Keep at it.

***5) Eternal Sailor Scouts - Sailor Mercury by MilleniumBum: Hhhmmm...I think the only thing I see that stands out is the head, it's a little large for the body. Other than that, personally, I think every thing else works. I'm not a fan of the characters, so I wouldn't know any of the subtle details, but I think this is a groovy pic.

***6) Black Cat Fur by ShadowHusk: Hhhmm...nice picture, more highlights, & did you change the color of the fur? You get more with art notes.

***7) MetropoliSin City by ali786: The symbol needs to conform to the shirt. Having not seen this poster I'm not sure what else you did, okay, I see the curl, & the shades, but if you had just made the "S" work this would have been a groovier picture.

***8) Fantastic Four's Invisible Woman: Susan Richards by Winnietapooh: this is an interesting shot, a very kool idea. Ad some wrinkles, & maybe some seems with a bump map, & it would look more like cloths, & less like she was spray painted

***9) Cruisin' as IronMan by iam:* Welcome to the DCG, nice first pic. I dig the contrast between then, & now. Even if all you did was ad the head, you did it nicely.

**10) The Beast by Amy Karas: Oh my stars, & garters! It's a Beast in The Box! WOW! Look at all that luxuriant blue fur...wouldn't he make a wonderful coooaaahhh...uummm->ehem!<- Excuse me, I got a li'll carried away there (sorry PETA, just kidding) But really, so far this is my pick of the day. I love the view of his hand through the beaker, & yes his trunks are awesome. VERY nice.

***11) Captain America by DarrenJSeeley: This is different. you seem to be developing an interesting abstract style, keep at it.

***12) Scarecrow by Sonic1002: This is nice, & creepy. I think what you've done here works very well. but...really...I'm not afraid...I'M NOT AFRAID!...I TELL YOU!!!

***13) Elektra: Assassin by Powermaster Jazz: I like this, it's a li'll painty, but I think it works here. BTW did you make the sais from scratch? And speaking of scratches, her's look good.

***14) Batman Begins by eceDrihten: Nice collaging (is that a word?) I'm digging the 70's movie poster feel of this. It reminds me of something...that I just can't put my finger on...hhmm...Very kool

15) BlackWidow 1 -redone by KLA 1: The extra effort shows, personally I think this is your best yet. Can't wait to see more.

16) Torch Skottie Style by rare01: For someone who say they don't draw, this is d@^^n nice, copied or not, you should draw more.

Well...that's that, eh? I almost got to open this thread, but that dern busy B beat me to it.

select uir

phantom of avalache: see my comments from the other day. i looked at your stuff at www.tss2000.nl and it's a nice collection of wallpapers. watch your shadows...the main character of this image...her shadow falls on a character to my right....but it just falls flat...it does not conform or bend at all to the legs. i think the text is difficult to read with the barcode behind it...a more prominent bold text would work. of course this is an 1152x864 image...so i imagine the text at that size is legible (sorry didnt want to sign up to see if that was true or not).

eternal sailor scouts: not happy...looks good to me. i think its the shoulder pads....they really distract from the image for me. they just don't seem to fit in with the rest of the costume. i like the bow...very sailor moon. it's a nice piece...but i think your right...there is something about it that just doesnt seem right...but again...your guess is as good as mine.

the beast: great work! those trunks are better than anything i've ever worked on. nice detail and they look very real. i love the fur, very unkept and wild. great work...one of your best.

scarcrow: interesting method to get the end result...never would have thought of that. looks good...very sinister.

elektra: i agree...definitely one of your stronger manips. if you don't know how to use the pen tool in photoshop....grab some tutorials on the net. i think some of the edges could be more clean, defined, and conform to the body contours better. i like the little scratches on the body. one thing you might also consider...is sketching or drawing your manips and then coloring them in photoshop to this level of realism. therefore your not stuck with using models and such. i like the subtle shading....rather you tried on purpose or not...the fabric has a velvet look to it. nice work.

torch: you don't draw? for someone who doesnt draw this is nice. nice style...cool little glows.

Yes. I drew the sais myself. I was thinking about just doing whole drawings in this style. I'll give it a shot.

Laughing Bear & Dperceful, thank you guys for the comments! I'm so happy y'all liked it! Now on to the UIR!!!

Mc Phantom Of Avalache Rmx by Level1- My favorite of the series!

Batman The Long Halloween by joker21- Cool poster! I love the darkness of it. The only problem I see is the dude on the lower left hand corner. His skin is a little brown and flat. Adding contrast or highlights might help give him more dimension.

Happy Birthday! The Crow? by NightScroller- What a nice friend you are! The edges look a little harsh though, and the shirt needs some highlights.

Interknight by vegeton- Very cool! I like the shoes!

Eternal Sailor Scouts - Sailor Mercury by MilleniumBum- OMG! OMG! I love Sailor Mercury. Her name is Aimee, my name's Amy. It works. I used to pretend I was her and now I actually have blue hair. Oh, yeah. I can still pull it off. Whoa! Okay, back to the UIR! Amazing costuming as always! The skin looks wonderful. I think her shoulders look too scrunched up high. Maybe if they curved down more it would fix the problem? But of course, it greatly exceeds my standard and I love the pic to death. Nice work!

Black Cat Fur by ShadowHusk- Ooo! Black Cat! I love her. I adore the cat logo. So cute! Youe also did a very nice job.

Metropolisin City by ali786- The red background and actually the whole concept works great for this pic.

Fantastic Four's Invisible Woman: Susan Richards by Winnietapooh- I read your profile and you like Gambit. Good girl! I like your pic. The costuming looks good.

Cruisin' As Ironman by iam- I think you should have tried to do the costuming yourself. Give it a go! It's so much fun! I love the csating choice of course and the scientific equations across the pic is an excellent touch. Nice job.

The Beast by Amy Karas- (mine)

Captain America by DarrenJSeeley- I like the shield!

Scarecrow by Sonic1002- Awesome pic!!! It's very scarey! I get the chills just looking at it. Great work!

Elektra: Assassin by Powermaster Jazz- I love it! The sais look wonderful as does the costume! I just really love it! Awesome.

Batman Begins by eceDrihten- Nice poster!

Blackwidow 1 -redone by KLA 1- Oh, I really, really like this! One of your best! The sky looks so magical. Very cool.

Torch Skottie Style by rare01- Cool pic!

'kay, I said I'd UIR so I'll UIR. May God have mercy on my soul and all that.

Mc Phantom Of Avalache Rmx by Level1
More of the same, really. I think the others have covered any criticism I would've made.

Batman The Long Halloween by joker21
Art notes would be appreciated. This is pretty cool, though. Not so sure about some of the casting, but that's me. Good manipping, I like the scarring on Two-Face. Scarecrow's very nice as well. Joker's colours are really oversaturated. Pacino (taken from Godfather III, surely?) is very flat and monochromatic, as Amy said. And the overall layout's nothing special, though not bad either.

Happy Birthday! The Crow? by NightScroller
Decent piece. I think the others have pointed out most of the problems.

Interknight by vegeton
Cool concept. As for the pic itself, it's okay, but really painty and/or smudgy and/or blurry. Except for the shoes which are far too sharp. The metal's decent, but check out dperceful's tutorial in the art school, it would greatly improve your work.

Eternal Sailor Scouts - Sailor Mercury by MilleniumBum
Perfectly good piece. The skirt and bow are very well done. Nice tiara as well. The head does indeed some a bit big. The sleeves are sort of floaty and out of place. I know they're there in the Eternal version of the senshi fuku, but they don't quite work here (though I never liked that version of the fuku, anyway, so mayhaps I'm biased). I think Amy's right about the shoulders. The hair could maybe use a bit more detail... I don't really see any other problems. Not your best, but perfectly decent.

Black Cat Fur by ShadowHusk
It's okay, I guess, but both the mask and the, er, catsuit are very flat. Needs more highlights.

Metropolisin City by ali786
Cool. Very cool. I like. The S is great, the glasses stick out a bit too much for my taste.

Fantastic Four's Invisible Woman: Susan Richards by Winnietapooh
Nice costuming, rather blurry logo. The edges are a bit iffy, the hand seems to have a halo around it. I'll agree on the wrinkle question, they'd be useful. I think the suit could also use slightly sharper shadows, it's a touch too bright. Oh, and this just begs for an invisibility effect.

Cruisin' As Ironman by iam
Decent cut-n-paste. The comic book style art clashes with the photo, which is also really grainy and pixelly. I like the equations though, nice touch. Can't say I like the casting, but then I hate Cruise, so I may be just a teensy bit biased.

The Beast by Amy Karas
Damn cool. Favourite pic of the day and I do believe your best work to date. The fur is just beautifully done, I can only imagine the patience involved there. As Dan mentioned, the shorts are beautifully done, some of the best costuming I've seen from you. Or anyone. The belt's nice too. Nitpicks: the face seems a lot more comic booky and less realistic than the body. It also seems a bit small. And then there's the bubbles... very stationary and rather fake looking. Just putting some smoke coming out of that flask would IMO work a lot better. Like I said though, great piece overall. Good job!

Captain America by DarrenJSeeley
Quite good for something done from scratch. I'm quite liking your style, it's very unique. The shield looks really nice here. I find I need at least a sketch to work off of. A lot of the lines are quite wobbly, especially the shield. The face is really blurry and the chin area looks weird, not sure why. And the eye colours are mismatched.

Scarecrow by Sonic1002
Cool technique, very cool results. It's creepy, which is quite perfect, really. I really like the stiching as well. It's all kinda blurry, though.

Elektra: Assassin by Powermaster Jazz
I remember seeing this over at the Respected Competition. This is indeed your best pic so far, I think. Nice costuming, though your work could generally use more shading in the costumes, particularly more highlights. The clothes are a bit flat, really. Great texture, though. The wounds are okay, but the blood is too bright to be realistic. The sai are beautiful, great job on them. I'd get rid of the black outlines around them though, that'd make them fit in with the rest of the pic a bit better. And I agree with Dan about the edges.

Batman Begins by eceDrihten
Nice piece. The background's kinda cluttered though, it's work better with fewer characters. Plus their lighting is all rather mismatched. The texture overly thingy is great.

Blackwidow 1 -redone by KLA 1
A definite improvement. The face is way better, if a touch blurry and IMO too bright in comparison to the rest of the pic. The bracelets are quite grainy, as well.

Torch Skottie Style by rare01
This makes me wish I couldn't draw, LOL. Nice lines, nice colouring, no problems that I can see. The details in the fire are very nice indeed, they're a cool touch.
