Whew! Ok. Here Goes Something.....

Enter: Weapon X P2 by Level1
After 3 months from the 1st one, I did this rendition, and is quickly became a "fav" for those of the websites that I'm a member of. I like it and can't validly comment negative or positive about it. Its neutral, and comment all you want!

Lita Queen by MaidenRaine1300
Uhm. A bit like some crayons and some finger paint to this one. I'm not feeling it, and so, I'll say nothing else more. Keep Trying Troop!

Psylocke by ShadowHusk
Not bad, this one. Nice usage of the model, however, try more handles in getting the coloration on certain areas to stay within the borders of the boundries of hair, underwear, and skin.

The Big Three by CoffeeCat665
This is cool. I like it, and its been a while seeing someone blend actual models into a pictorial.

Joker by Sonic1002
Not quite a JOKER that I'd expect. More work could have been done on the mouth, and the blending of the skin tone using white instead of desaturating it to mild gray.

Original Concept: Chevron by show_u_who_i_am
This is well done. Nice mild shine on the skin, and the drawing of the Xmen logo is well done.

Smallville Flight by Kal-El Fan
Looks like a feature presentation to an up and coming movie! Nice work. I'd like to see more of this from you, dude!

The Bat Signal by LaughingBear
Leave it to Laughing Bear to do the unusual! This looks like one of those SPECIAL SILVER collectors cards, that you get when you buy any BATMAN movie collection, with the white powdered rectangle gum inside. Ahh. I smell BUBBLE GUM on this one! I love it, LB! Nice touch, feel, and very, very Nostalgic!

Dbz by BlueScreen
For a hand drawn pic, this is nicely and superbly done! Had my DragonBall Z juices flowing when I saw this work of Art! Superb one, indeed!

Majestic by ali786
In short.. ..great coloration! Nice feel, and awesome delivery!

Shatterstar: Gender Change by Winterhawk
Another nice one. The placement of the hands are a plus, that is, if they are not her actual hands from the original pic that you used. Nice display.

The Cost Of Heroism by Spiderman620815
Another nice drawing from Spiderman629815! I am begining to see good progression in each of your images, kid!

Silver Surfer by ali786
Nicely done, despite the roughly "edges" on the out body sprite of your "Surfer". Smoothen it out a bit, if there is a possible "next time" upload. Looks like some MS Paint pencilage!

Invisible Woman : Movie by jeaf7
Great! Super! Outstanding! I wanna see some more of these man!

Mariko by Atomic Man
Not bad, not bad at all! Nice character card display, and good supportive actress you have there in the scheme!

Mike O Hearn by KAZ
KAZ does it again! I've seen your gallery, and I'm liking the delivery, image manip, and the "action feel" that this Superman displays!

Now, that that is done... ...I'll go have me a nice cold brewsky....Carrot Juice and a V8! I deserve it!

wepaon x: ahh the ever popular and misused motion blur effect. with the angle that you have he is not lunging at the viewer...merely shifting left to right, a very common mistake most people will make using the filter. wolverine is coming forward....try using the distort tool on the blurred copy and basically shorten it and thin it to give yourself a better angle. also experiment with maybe blurring or smudging the actual edges of the model with the motion blur....helps a lot in giving objects motion. there is still some cleanup that could be done....but overall not bad. curious why you used the other background and didn't incorporate the main foreground image and include it into the background. when scanning set your scanning options for a higher res scan or higher file size scan...perhaps that would save you some unnecessary clean up work. this would likely save you the "pixel by pixel" reconstruction....any reconstruction/work in photoshop is pixel by pixel...it's a raster based application. oh yeah....i'm not too young of a man....i'm almost 30, even have the grey to prove it.

lita queen: again...another step down from one of your previous gambit works (which i believe was done in photoshop). you have the concept there....i think just some more solid lines and angles would help out. check out the Paint work by M and you'll see what i mean.

psylocke: mmmmmmmmm kelly hu. nice work. i think the hair could use some highlights and shadows...dodge and burn tools will get you that. you have the costuming elements in place....i just think some more execution into those elements...like lighting with the dodge tool, some wrinkles, slight bevels to create edges, etc would really get you to that next level.

the big three: i think it looks good. the head turn looks great....i would have thought it was turned that way, until you mentioned it. i think a more iconic background would be nice....but thats just me.

joker: nice work ont he smile, probably just because he scored a fat load of money for doing that coke commercial. anways....simple and nice. throw in a flower in his suit...that would be a nice touch. right now he has a kinda pink eye thing going....just use the dodge tool to fix that. i would recommend some smoothing of the skin, i think that would get it more white and less grey.

chevron: hell you get a thumbs up just for not going overboard on the eye effects. cool concept on your character...i like the center of gravity thing....thats a neat idea.

smallville: simple...and it works. i was wondering when it premiered...who knew i would get that info from the gallery .

bat signal: i don't think as cool looking as your superman...in my opinion. this image is much rougher around the edges and filled with beveled lines that i think really dampen your style. the cloudy background is cool...but i think it needs to be smoothed out and not so rough. that is a great flowing cape....really cool work on that.

dbz: sorry no art notes.

Majestic: nice. you should do a tron image...that lighting is perfect on the right guy (sorry not sure who is who here). nice actiony background (coffeecat....this is the kind of iconic like bacground i meant). i like the flowing capes and the coloring i think is very well done. nice work.

shatterstar: artists block...what is that ? as usual...nice work. the thumbs look freaky, sorry they just do. just going to offer you a chllenge winterhawk. you have the skills, you have the talent....that much is apparent. i think you are in the same trappings as myself...i tend to use hot looking models and work up an image...after a while...you just kinda get burned on it. try using an actual drawing and recreate it realistically in photoshop. my wolverine for example over at heromorph...why not the best example of realism....is an example of what i'm talking about. essex's recent mr sinister is a great example....a base drawing rebuilt to life in phothoshop. or even take a model and bloody her up...like my marrow, people love that thing...just because there is nothing else like it. and that's what i think makes the stand out artists. try something different to ignite the artist in you....but all the time i believe you will learn some new tehniques out of the processes. keep up the good work...honestly...i'm not knocking your work...just throwing ideas out there for you. trust me, i've recently challenged my self to the mother of all manips...and i can't tell you how much it has reignited the artist in me.

cost of heroism: beautiful reflective piece. nice sense of emotion here. a somber piece.

silver surfer: that silver is done in photoshop? wow...very nice work! i like the subtle color variations...rather on purpose or not they work. i would love to see a more intense celestial starfield...check out Greg Martin for some great ideas on stars and planets...the best way to do them in photoshop in my opinion. nice work...and a cool looking board.

invisible woman: a major step up in your work. some detailed art notes would be helpful.

mariko: i woul have like to seen the invisible effect....i think it would have been a fun challenge for you. nice work on the costuming....i like the sleeves....very well done there. the flame effect seems a little too solid. nice work overall..one of your stronger pieces.

mike o hearn: nice base pic.....really nice. as usual....your blending methods are superb....you really should do a tutorial on your methods. you always have the perfect to near perfect angles, matched up lighting, etc. a lot of things other people miss...you nail every time.

dan

I thank you on your comments, and i agree with you.

I too wonna see my invisible effect, once i can manip it as i see it in my mind. I've been chasing this manip for a long time and allready had 2 failured attempts...

You say this is one of my stonger manips... well i think it's one of the most consistent manips. I think i did better before. but i have this problem: i can't duplicate effects, i mean, once i did something right, i'm not sure i can do it again... my work is not consistent... it's very "moody" i guess...

As usual this is a very professional looking piece. I have to say I’m pretty ambivalent about the whole cookie cutter wallpaper thing.

Lita Queen by MaidenRaine1300
The Paint look over a photo in incongruous at best. If you have to use Paint maybe you should just draw the whole thing over your base picture.

Psylocke by ShadowHusk
I like the change from Deathstrike to the “asian” version of Psylocke. She never seemed tough enough or crazy enough for Deathstrike. The manip itself isn’t a step forward for you considering your previous work.

The Big Three by CoffeeCat665
Cool idea… I would have liked to see you smooth things out a bit so it didn’t appear so plastic.

Joker by Sonic1002
Yep I can see Brody as the Joker now. Thanks. I think you will find that any picture that contains a white area that it is rarely just grays. I think the addition of some kind of color here and there would make for a more convincing skin tone.

ORIGINAL CONCEPT: CHEVRON by show_u_who_i_am
Cute model… I really like this it’s simple and very appealing. A little blurry but that’s a nitpick.

Smallville Flight by Kal-El Fan
Not bad… a simple concept done well.

The Bat Signal by LaughingBear
Cool Pic… Ok now I’m starting to get a handle on your drawing style. The problem with the foot is threefold. First the angle of foreshortening is incorrect. The thigh should be coming forward off of the hip. The way you have it drawn the inner thigh is almost in complete profile. Second the drape of the cape makes the forward leg appear smaller or maybe it is. Third the foot itself isn’t on the right plane for it to be resting on the ledge. It looks as though only the exterior edge of the foot is actually on the ledge. How about submitting some new stuff?

DBZ by BlueScreen
This is definitely a fair rendition of the subject matter.

Majestic by ali786
It lost a bit in the resizing but still looks pretty good. I like the added depth from your shading. Maybe a lower saturation level would have been good for the cyan that is in the white of Majestic’s costume. It’s hard to say for sure without seeing it at full size.

ShatterStar: Gender Change by Winterhawk
The only thing I’ll add to what the big little d is my heart felt encouragement.

The Cost of Heroism by Spiderman620815
This one works far better than the companion pieced did at this size. The three quarter view portrait screen right has a little hinky proportions and feature alignment. Next time go bigger and draw the faces completely.

Silver Surfer by ali786
Awesome results for this experiment. Great job!

Invisible woman : movie by jeaf7
Very nice… The costume is a little asymmetrical but a good job nonetheless.

Mariko by Atomic Man
Well done… The costume is real sharp. The background effect is nice too. The shadow on her neck disembodies her head a little bit. Maybe you could have cast a little of it onto her chest to help ease that a bit. This one and your last look like a transition pieces to me. It seems as though your work is turning a corner and a good one at that. Keep it going. At times like this you want to work through it to see what’s around the corner. I want to see it too.

Mike O Hearn by KAZ
Wow! That looks like Superman to me. I don’t know how much you did to the background but this is a great image.

Thanks For your comments!

These last two pics i think have more depth, more shadows and light... but i think i've done somethings like this before... like Psilocke and the hand of god or the portuguese storm, and some other which, at the time i thought it was an aproach to the style and quality of millenium bum and kevin incal, wich then and nowi trully believe it's a great improvement for me and a great compliment!

I truly meant this as a compliment and recognition of something different that I saw in those pieces. I always review someones gallery while doing a UIR to refresh my memory of that persons body of work. You do indeed have many stunning images that you have contributed to the DCG. You always are challenging yourself and stretching your abilities and I wanted to acknowledge that. What I have noticed in much of your previous work is there is an inconsistency of color or edge. Not bad but seemingly lost in the details. The difference I see specifically is hard to describe/argue but here goes. It is as if you are looking at the image as a whole while you are working it so that it is more cohesive. The overall image may not even be equal to some of your previous work in impact but it's has a consistent visual quality throughout. I think once you feel comfortable with working in that way the creative vision that you have demonstrated will drive you to produce the kinds of works you aspire to. This is a rather long winded way of saying that I like your stuff and keep it coming, because really I find it entertaining.

Once again, Biohaz_Daddy, I thank you for your comments. I really think that what i lack is consistency. The only thing consistent in my manips is... the background, other than that, sometimes i do metal really well, sometimes it looks more like plastic, sometimes the wrinkles and folds turn out ealistic, sometimes they look really fake and off.

Through the creation of methods and paterns of procedure i should get the same results and alltough i'm not really there yet, these two latest manips really show some consistency.

Thanks Everyone.
In regards to my block, it is part a lack of time and part a lack of motivation. I have about 8 manips that are 3/4 finished and I just don't feel like finishing any of them.
I have done a lot of "different" manips and pictures in the past: My batman villains, Speak, JLA etc. But I like your Idea of creating an image in photoshop only, but truthfully right now it would probably end up as unfinished manip number 9. Maybe down the road.
Actually, Since posting Shatterstar, I have started a start to finish tutorial trying to incorporate as many techniques as I can and still keep it simple enough for first time users to follow. It is quite fun making a tutorial. I am making it for Heromorph but I would love to post an edited version here as well (original is not family friendly, so I would have to censor parts to make it appropriate for C2F).
Thanks again Guys.

PS—Dan, in regard to her thumbs, I did nothing to them those are her thumbs; I just added the drop shadows around her hands on her shirt. She just has strange thumbs!

Glad you enjoyed it Level1...uumm...what the frell do they put in that gum anyway?

Thanks dperceful, your words are always taken to heart, I'm going to consider them when I finish my one hour piece, Dave gave me a lot of good ideas on that one.

Yes, biohaz you're right, the more I look at this pic, the more flaws I see. I guess you could call this resting on my laurels, but I wanted to show a little progress, even if it is in revers. I do have some new pieces working that I need to finish, time, & weather permitting (go away Ivan). Not to mention, I have been a bit lazy of late.
