Many liked the movie, and yet there was not enough Hulk in the movie itself. Okay, it was an origin story and you have to wait for a second movie where they have all that aside and then they can do more things with it.
Okay about the moderate success opening weekend. Well let's wait for the second weekend business at the box office and then see, but right now, it's quite likely that they are going to do a second Hulk movie, although I hope we see more of the Hulk in it, and have some supervillians (The Leader and the Abomination). |

I would like them to get John Williams to score the second Hulk movie. The Hulk is sort of a bigger then life character, quite worthy of a John Williams score (Danny Elfman's score was okay, but it had a sense ooff being put together at the last moment).

I believe that's because the original composer was let go halfway between the film's completion. |

The Hulk musical score is my second favorite Danny Elfman score, next to the score for the first Batman film. I thought his interpretation of the Hulk music had the perfect primal beast meets mad scientist feeling. The score also had something deeper in it to remind you that Bruce Banner's rage isn't an adult rage, but the rage of a four year old child.

I hope Danny is not being typecast as a composer....being known as someone who can only do scores for comic/superhero type pictures...I don't think he is, but he might be seen that way in the press.

Well today the Hulk posted at $81 million dollars at the box office, a moderate success compared to the X-Men and Spider-Man films but a success none the less, and more then likely enough to do a sequal.

I hate to sound like a doomsayer, but The Hulk is probably the second most recognizable character in Marvels stable. Everyone should have been waiting for this movie, much moreso than say Thor, Iron Man or really anyone else. The fact that America wasnt rushing in HUGE droves to see this means that its not a big deal, and a large percentage of those who have seen the film hated it, so why should there be a sequel??? I say give Marvels next big gun, Captain America a shot instead.

Unless they remember the T.V. series back in the late seventies-early eighties. And am I reading this right? The movie is up to $81 mil....... and there are those of you who feel that it's a FAILURE? The second weekend hasn't even ended as yet, and people are saying it's FAILED?? MAN, this place has a REALLY tough crowd at times! ;-) |

....... PLUS........ I gotta say this:
The very title of this thread....... "Despite the MODERATE success opening......." How can people you call it a MODERATELY SUCCESSFULL opening?? 62 mil in the first weekend is TERRIFIC! I mean, granted, it didn't do the boo coo opening that Spider-Man did, but I don't think ANYONE expected that it was going to do anything along THOSE lines. Even if this IS on of the most recognizable character's in the Marvel Universe, you have to remember: Spider-Man is the GOLD STANDARD of Marvel, and therefore that's why HE had such a mammoth first weekend box office. This film has already done very well! When all's said and done, they've made a FORTUNE from it, I wouldn't be crying for Marvel. |
