They just said on the news that DD took in 43.5 million. It was the biggest President's Day opening ever. So... did that meet the studio's expectations? Ours? What does it say about a sequel?

Also, I hear Ebert and Roper gave it two thumbs up. Do you think it's getting good critical reviews and will that help keep the box office? People went to see it, will they continue to?

Well I hope that number is valid. I think it was in TV Guide that Affleck mentions that it's hoped for the movie to do 40 mil the openning weekend. If that's true then it could do well enough to earn a sequel.

It's not getting too much critical acclaim. It seems the vote's about half and half among critics, less among the most reputed. But a good word of mouth could help.

I was watching Ebert and Roeper last night and I was shocked at how much they chatted up DD. Their talk about DD took up AT LEAST a third of the show and both of them raved about it. They admitted it had some problems, but Ebert flat out said that Daredevil was the answer to his problems with Spider-Man. That is exactly how I feel too.

Ebert and Roeper are, of course, hardly the be-all and end-all of film critics, but they ARE down to earth and people listen to and respect them. I'm hoping anybody who was hessitant to see it opening weekend might have gotten a look at the show and may have changed their mind.

I just can't understand why so many other critics bashed the movie...

Also the critics of the TV Hot Ticket gave DD great reviews too

Wow, I'm really shocked that Daredevil's box office fell by about 60% in its second weekend. Alot of care was put into the film and it deserves to at least top 100 million domestically. I hope this doesn't make Fox reconsider their plans for a sequel...

It may have dropped considerably, but it still made close to 20 million dollars this weekend, which is more than most movies make in their opening weekend. It's made 70 million in two weeks, which is a considerable feat.

Not only that, but people tend to forget that the business just dosen't happen on the weekends. I went to see DD on a weekday, and the theater was packed. So people also have to take in the considerable amount of bucks that the film brings in during the week, but the weekend is where people always pin there hopes on because.... well, it's the weekend! You're supposed to have more free time to spend on the weekend, so you go to the movies. I think it's going to do just fine..... and ONCE everything is said and done, what with the business it may do OVERSEAS, plus the video, when it comes out........ FUGGEDABOUDITTT!!!!
Please........ SHARE!

Good points, Essex and Bigkid. The weather yesterday may have kept alot of people home too (we got a mess of snow here last night). Insiders are predicting it will cross 100 million in North America and possibly another 100 million overseas, which will make it a huge success, depending on how much they spent on advertising. Why do I care? Because I wanna have four or five of these movies a year, so the more box office they do the better!

Actually, if you want 4 or 5 of these a year... don't just see it in the theatre... buy the video or DVD... studios make most of their money off Video and DVD sales... but the box office influences when they realease the video/dvd... so it is pretty much hand in hand there.
