Hey all, this is the thread devoted to producing stories. Got an idea you want feedback on? A short story? Post them here, and hear what we've got to say.

Try keep them short, or in parts, and as family friendly as possible!

Rather than posting a whole big ol' story, I'm just gonna put down an idea I had, one of many, for a film/short story.

The basic premise was that of a ol' time criminal. He was never a big leaguer but he pulled a few jobs, and was friends with the "heavies". The jobs he did tho, in the end meant he lost everything. His kids, wife, and house. He went to prison for a long time, and the people there knew that the sentencing was unfair, so he was given priviliges. One of which was working outside the prison. Whilst all his inmates buddies were out cleaning the streets in orage jumpsuits he worked within the police station. There he befriends the local constabultry. After the 20 or so years, aged 40ish, he is realeased, but with no job and no house things look grim.

On the night of his release, he and some of the cops go oout for a drink. They talk about his situation and hit upon the idea of him being a "walk-in". These are the people that they call upon for line-ups, the guys that are innocent. So he does this for quite some time, living in a small apartment, passing time and basically waiting to die. He's not unhappy, but I wouldn't say he's the most ecstatic person.

Then one day things take a turn when he gets a phone call from his exwife. Their son, whom he still keeps in contact with, and cares for a great deal, has some illness. Something, that needs surgery right away. The wife can't afford the surgery on her own, and calls in the hopes he can help. He promises her he will, but of course, has little money as it is.

Still friends with his neighbourhood criminals, he approaches them with the perfect hit. They will commit a series of three robberies, of which our lead, can never be convicted. As the regular line-up dude, he is above suspicion.

They commit the first two fine, with our dude being identified on the second, and then the police guys laughing about it after.

With the third tho, things go sour. During the second, it turns out they stole some jewlery from a safe deposit box belonging to a highpowered government dude. He manages to twist the fbi's arm into joining the investigation. Our team decide to proceed with the job tho.

During the hit, a cop walks into the bank to get some cash, unaware of the situation. He turns and is face to face with the lead, who, startled, fires killing the cop, only to see it's his buddy. The downed officer's partner then storms the building taking out the lead.

Of course no the twist doesn't end there. At his funeral a distraught ex-wife, and her all too healthy son, who never needed any operations, just a new car.

The ending, needs some work. I think he should find out that his wife betrayed him, and then be taken down, similairly to Falling Down, but I don't know how i'd write it.

Thoughts?

Totally off the top of my head: You could have him wind up at the same hospital his son is supposed to be at (needing a CAT scan or something, I don't know), so he escapes from the police, runs down the corridor, dragging IV drip and other such surgical whatsits. Finally he staggers to the room that his wife tells him his son was in. But it's empty. So he assumes that his son has died. And either commits suicide, because he's never been there for his son, or has a heart attack.

Or something.

Oooh, if he has a heart attack, his wife could confess to him on his death bed. Then he could die.

Or something.

Look, I've had a lot of sugar today, so please forgive me. *whimpers and hides from the Happy-Dancy Bunnies*

I was going through my floppy discs yesterday, trying to figure out where some stuff was, and I came across this story I wrote about five years ago. It was supposed to be the first in a series of stories set in this dark fantasy RPG world I was creating at the time. It all kind of fell apart when the company I had my website on was bought out by NBC, and I got hit with a three month case of writers block.
Anyway I got out the story, did a little work on it, and here it is. Because of it's length and some of the subject matter I made a little web page and stuck it on there. It's not that it has anything really offensive in it, but it does get a little violent at times. OK here's the link.

Okay, since we are sharing and I am suddenly in the mood to type this, here's some story ideas that are floating around on my hard drive...these are all working titles, and all influx so nothing in here is set in stone.

"Flight 105"- I dunno where I got that title from. Anyway, this story is about Maggie Simmons, a 30ish woman who is in the grip of Obessive Compulsive Disorder. I have some background done on her childhood and how she got that way, but to skip to the plot. Maggie is a nurse, she rarely ventures far from her home and job. Her only remaining living relative, her mother is dying, thus forcing Maggie to board a plane to go see her. Maggie is terrified of planes and just about everything else. If you know anything about OCD, you know that people suffering from it do really strange things to quiet their fears. Maggie does something very odd (to a normal person) but that makes perfect sense to her. She takes a parachute on a commercial airline flight. Her carryon is a backpack with a parachute in it. Anyways, guess what? An engine goes out on the plane somewhere over the ocean, and Maggie is ofcourse, the only one with a parachute. In the panic and commotion, she opens the emergency hatch and is about to jump out, when the people who where sitting in front of her call out to her. It's a young couple, with a child, 3 to 4 years old. They beg her to take their child, knowing they are all going to die. Maggie is a petite woman, and so the childs wieght adds no extra problem. She takes the crying child and they jump.
That's really the begining of the story however. The real center of the novel is on Maggie and little girl, how they survive, how she conquers her OCD in a life or death situation, and on the relationships between Mothers and daughters (even adopted ones).

OK so that's one plot...lemme see...here's another one, but this is for a short story, not a full novel.

It's set in the not so distant future. Woman goes into hospital for surgery on some body part ( hip, shoulder, etc.) and wakes up in a strange surreal version of her world. After a period of strange and supernatural happenings, she wakes up in the hospital bed again as if it had all been a dream. Eerily identical things happen and the woman is on a frantic mission to stop the same things from happening; she fears her dream was prophetic to the extreme.

Then the reader is observing the husband and the doctor in the hostpital room. They have no explanation for why the woman isn’t waking up, but it is revealed that the woman’s husband decided to okay a procedure on her brain, to eleminate bab memories or the like, with out the wifes consent. The reader is left to assume that because of the husbands seemingly benign decision, the wife will now be trapped in her dream nightmare world endlessly.

Now, my website is in bad bad need of an update, but you can visit it, and in the writing section find an overwiew of a scifi comic I'm writing (tho nothing new on it lately) and half of a short story I have not finished yet.

The novel I am writing that I have the most done on, is called Fate, tenetively. It's about 6 people and their high school reunion. One of them has evolved into a serial killer and a typical slasher thriller plot ensues. Where I want my to be different is here: the main part of the novel is not the plot, which is simply there to drive it along, it's the characters evaluations of their lives, and choices they have made. Think "The Big Chill" but without the comedy, and in this case, my characters are forced to do all this soul searching while under the threat of immediate death.

Anyway, let me know what you think!

Opps- here's my website:

hey, Kwick, I also went and read your story. It's pretty good! Some suggestions:

The tense seems to change in the first part. I may be wrong here, but either way, it's confusing.

I think you might want to mention the Messiah and impress how evil he is more with the scene with the old guy. That might make it a bit more shocking when it's revealed his is the Messiah.

Other than that, excellent story. Your description of the sights, sounds, etc is great, and the plot moves at a good pace for a short.

Look forward to some more from you!

WWG, thank you for the feedback. I think I know what you're talking about with the tense change, when I was writing it I switched from talking about things as they happened to things that had already happened and I got a little confused at times and messed up the tense. I've tried to correct it, but it just never came out right.
I was actually planning to show how evil the messiah was as the story continued. I had this whole story worked out in my head where he would start tying to take over this world and in the process massacre hundreds of people. A professional vampire hunter was going to be brought in to hunt him down, and at the same time the Laura from this world who was turned into a vampire was also hunting him looking for a cure. At one point she was even going to travel through the remains of the portal to dark Earth where she would retrieve the archive and return to our world. From the archive she was going to learn all about the destruction of the other world and the origins of the messiah. It turned out that he and the hunter chasing him are actually the same person in different forms, and she rushed off to prevent them from coming together because it probably wouldn't turn out well. In the end they all came together deep in the Rocky Mountains where the hunter and the messiah kill each other at the exact same time. As they died their spirits merged and then split in half. One half was pure light and goodness and it went into Laura and mutated her into a higher form of life. She became a kind of reverse vampire who could give life to people and cure sickness. The other half was a kind of liquid shadow that slithered off into the night and when it comes into contact with people it changes them into a new kind of vampire that is stronger than the old kind, but more primitive and violent. After that Laura went into a kind of hibernation and when she woke up the new vampires had basically taken over the world and she set out to try and undo the damage. (Sorry I didn't mean to ramble on like that).
Anyway I never actually wrote any of this because by the third part I was just so confused, and having so many problems with the website that I just gave up. The story was just coming out bad and if I can't tell it right then I just shouldn't tell it.
I'm not sure I'm going to be writing to much more after this, because the stuff I've been coming up with recently is just messed up. I've spent the last few months trying to translate an email I wrote last year into a story, but it just isn't going well. And even if I did get it done I'm not sure anyone would want to read a story about a crystal burrito that lets people travel through time.

Anyway, thanks again for the feedback. I'd like to offer some of my own but I honestly don't know what to say beyond they all sound like very interesting stories. The one about the woman in the hospital has a very Outer Limits kind of quality to it and Fate sounds like the kind of book I usually end up reading and getting a big kick out of.

My Vampire Story is called Blood and Water. Im not going to give everything away, coz i am currently writing it and hope to get it published.

It starts in the Viking age where to families, Drekheim (later to be called Drakarn) and Brannek (later to be called Bratvletka) begin a family feud. Then a mysterious figure shows himself in the village, only coming out during the night. This vampire converts these two families and with this, theur war rages on as history progresses.

There are a few more things.

There is the French Crusader, Francois, a templar knight. He is converted by the Drakarn vampire, Mannnfryd (hence my namesake). Then Mannfryd and Francois become best friends, both being as equally sadistic. Then during the time of the french revolution, Francois falls in love with one of the vampires from Bratvletka which he then becomes nice and good again. Mannnfryd discovers this and starts to hate Francois for betraying their families cause (which is a lie since he has no honour for his family duty either, he really hates francois for a hidden reason that i will not reveal as of yet).

Mannfryd was a viking cripple, he never went to war and this made him angry. The other boys would tease him because of this. When he became a vampire, he was fully healed and his brother, Vnnfryd, taught him the way of the warrior. But Mannfryd and Vnnfryd got their revenge on the other boys. They brutally butchered them all and gorged on their blood. From then on, he became over-all cruel, evil and sadistic, his motto "i love it when they cry...but i prefer it when they bleed". He dislikes love which becomes trouble when he falls inlove himself, with a beautiful french maiden during the 17th century. He makes her a vampire, but as time progresses, he treats her cruelly.

There is more which you wll have to readfor yourself once I'm finished.

I have another idea, it is a trilogy of books.

THE VAMPYRE REVOLUTION-

Part One: A race revealed.
This is about when the vampires come together in secret where as a whole, they must vote for their next course of action. Do thewy reveal themselves to the world or stay in shadow. A majority vote for the decision to reveal themselves. The book is mainly about how humanity accepts this change and the signing of the LIVING/UNDEAD GLOBAL PEACE ACT.

Part Two: Of Demons and Angels.
The Vampires have now been accepted into the communtiy, despite some problems-The Catholic Fanatical Society: "Maleus Maleficarum".
There is a group of vampires who intrigued by human history, decide that they must go on a quest to seek their history, where they are relentlessly pursued by Malleus Maleficarum who are afraid that it may herald the downfall of catholic religion. In the end, the vampires discover that their race came into existence when the queen of hell, Hecate, interbred angels with her race of demons. The vampires are then attacked by Malleus where they are all killed except for one.

Part 3:Varcolaci.
The survivor of the vampire historical research team massacre, Lillith, goes into hiding. The Malleus Orginisation is at its greatest it has ever been. The vampire race is endangers with many orginisations fighting for their preservation.
Lillith then orginizes a treaty with the anti-catholic vampire cult, "the children of iscariot". Orginally fighting against the Malleus, the Children of Iscariot come to the conclusion that even if the Malleus is destroyed what is to prevent another such militia to appear. So they start a global"crusade" against all that is christian. But they fail in their mission where Judas, leader of the Iscariots, declares that the times of old must be reborn.

(The times of old were the forgotten period of time, that was found during "Of Demons and Angels" where the wolrd was ruled by vampires, their leader being Varcolaci, a vampire who had the power to cloud both the sun and moon. He was imprisoned by humans within a pool of blood, his power passed on to many vampires .)
Anyway, the Iscariots decide to ressurect Varcolaci. Until Francois, the Templar from Blood and Water, brings an army of Angels from heaven to stop this from happening.

THE END.

DONT STEAL MY IDEAS.
