Hey, what's up with Ikea suddenly being in love with the wood finish? I went looking around for a metallic/black entertainment center and couldn't find anything that suited my tastes and needs (anything that suited my needs was wood-finished and anything that suited my tastes lacked the space for all my electronics, DVD's, etc., although I have remedied the DVD issue in the meantime). So, I went to Ikea on a recommendation thinking they'd have what I need, even though it may be a bit kitschy. No such luck. Fucking 99% of their selection is wood-finished, now. I'm getting to the point where I'm going to build my own.

If you built your own wouldn't it be easiest to do out of wood? Then paint it?
Ikea is the Swedish Mosh Pit. They have some ok stuff. But not tons.
