Please forgive me if this is the wrong forum! It looked like a good choice!

I have just about finished putting together an entry for Dark Horse's newcomer contest. The script is 90% done for two issues, but I but need a solid artist to illustrate. The story is non-superhero, and deals with the occult mythology of the old south. Setting is in early 1800’s. It has heroes, villains, and supernatural happenings, but no costumes or brawling splash pages. If forced to make a Hollywood-style pitch for it, I would say " Constantine / Hellblazer done in the vein of Shelby Foote or Bruce Catton." Think “Devil in the White City,” with the supernatural. I have been a comic fan most of my life, but have not keep up with them in the last 5 five years or so, although I have friends who pass along the "must-reads."

I have some small publishing experience. Currently, I write a feature for a regional magazine, have done history pieces for zone newspapers, and wrote one issue of a locally produced comic back in the 90's. I will have co-author credit on a book (print run 1,000) of a non-fiction subject to be published later this year. Hardly anything that has made me any $ or established a reputation, but I mention it to show that I am deadly serious about making a go of this- I have always wanted to break into the comic world, and this Dark Horse contest looks like a good way to do it,

We would need to get the 5 pages done by end of December to meet their guidelines. If anyone out there is interested, please drop me a line. Serious inquiries only. Thanks for reading, and glad to be part of the forum!

Hey welcome to C2F. Your changes of getting an artist are probably better if you post this in the DCG Gab forum.

Good luck.

I myself am considering doing a writing submission to Dark Horse based on one of my spec scripts. I don't know about any contest, but I have heard of thier varied submission process. My sp's are WGA registered, the only question is what I will send in. I would have to break down on panels. Challenging.

The idea is that I have to be open to other avenues of visual storytelling.

I have recently experimented with a panel-like form within the gallery, and finding out in the time consumption, I have to cut out parts of the small story I wrote concerning a Marvel character. Since the concept is on a spoof- humorous level, I usually can live with having the RD: HTD series spread out a little bit. My last attempt was even a surprise to me, I gave HTD more of a cartoony look. Getting it down to a 90k has also been a slight hassle in the past, but I'm getting better in that area too.
