I got this info from IGN and the Silent Hill site. There are some top notch artists here, who I think could easily win this contest. It's one scary ass game....and hopefully is a semi-decent movie.

Check out the movie's website at WelcomeToSilentHill.com where you can download various visual assets from the forthcoming game-to-film adaptation. The deadline given for submissions is January 3, 2006. Entries will be posted on January 4th and online and wireless voting will commence.

On January 17th, TriStar Pictures will review the 50 posters with the most votes for a selection of five finalists. The finalists will be posted on January 20th and fans will cast their votes for the winner. TriStar will unveil the winning poster on February 22.

submit your poster by January 3, 2006. Then get all your friends to vote for your poster starting January 4, 2006 because the winning artist gets $2,500 cash, 25 passes to see the movie, and more.

Yeah, I'll give it a go.
But the pix they let you choose from are mostly crap-o-rama. Only one (!) pic of Sean Bean! How communist! I think something could be done with Pitch Black's Rhona Mitchell crawling around on the floor, but..ugh.

I still have one of the Resident Evil: Apoco leftovers, that I forgot to submit for DCG game day. I actually loved the non-contest with 'Constintine' last spring (Original Sin) where people threw up self induced wallpaper left and right.

yeah, they really concentrate on the creepy little girl aspect. can't say there are a lot of great pics to work with...but there are some nice texture effects that can be done to the images to really spook it up, yet their guidelines are kinda tough (no blood, no mutations, etc.)

I really find these guidelines kinda funny. I mean....some of this you wouldn't even have to say, some of it's...just weird...

1. No nudity or sexual activity
2. No gun to camera/no shooting to camera
3. No gun to victim/no shooting to victim
4. No more than 2 guns may appear
5. No reference to drugs/drug paraphernalia
6. No offensive language or gestures
7. No blood
8. No violence towards women
9. No cruelty to animals
10. No mutations/mutilations/cadavers
11. No excessive violence or brutality
12. No rape/molestations
13. No people on fire
14. No people in explosion/people blown out of explosion
15. No exploiting/capitalizing on rating (i.e., "R has never gone this far", "Banned in Boston")
16. No demeaning of religion, race or national origin

I esp like No people on fire...lol. But these are strange guidlines for a horror movie rated R. Still I might give it a go if I have time, cuz the prize is pretty good!

I did eight different posters. The one below is the one I submitted and is the 7th I made.

Now everyone has to go vote for it

These generally the same guidelines when they had RE2 going on.
That was even funnier since the pics to use for RE2 had more than two characters with guns*, and a few things on fire/exploding. And RE2 featurued folks who went through mutations and mutilations**.

The point though, is that the poster has to be for 'a general audience'.

*The Matrix poster had at least four guns.
**Saw II had a big stink over this, but they didn't change the ad campaign, did they?

I don't really think I have a chance of winning, but I figured what the heck I love the games (except for number four, mostly because it killed my PS2) so here's what I submitted.
