Updates:
July 31, 2006 - Warner Bros. Pictures said Monday that it has moved Darren Aronofsky's The Fountain to Nov. 22, the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. The move now pits Fountain against Buena Vista's Thanksgiving release, the Tony Scott-directed Deja Vu. Both films center on the theme of a man time-traveling in order to save the woman he loves. Starring Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz, Fountain, from Warners and Regency Enterprises, centers on one man's thousand-year struggle to save the woman he loves. Deja Vu is the story of an ATF agent who travels back in time to save a woman from being murdered, falling in love with her during the process. [Hollywood Reporter]
July 31, 2006 - A new trailer for the Warner Bros. sci-fi fantasy film THE FOUNTAIN has hit the web. You can find it here.
August 5, 2004 - Rachel Weisz is jumping into The Fountain. The actress is on board to star opposite Hugh Jackman in the sci-fi pic being directed by Darren Aronofsky, who also is producing via his Protozoa Pictures shingle. Also producing are Protozoa partner Eric Watson. Regency Enterprises and Warner Bros. Pictures are co-financing. Much of the story is being kept under wraps, but it is known that it follows one man's journey in the present as well as 500 years into the past and future, while dealing with the themes of love, death and immortality. February 27, 2004 - The interest of X-MEN star Hugh Jackman may be all that's needed for Darren Aronofsky's THE FOUNTAIN movie project to get a second chance. As you may recall, when the film's original leading man (Brad Pitt) backed out of the film in September 2002 Aronofsky's sci-fi drama fell apart. Sets that had been constructed in Australia were put into storage and then later had to be scrapped.
If Jackman decides to make FOUNTAIN with the PI director the budget for the feature will be somewhere between $35 million to $40 million dollars, about $30 million less than when Pitt was involved with it.
August 15, 2002 - THE FOUNTAIN was almost filmed in 2002 when it was slated to star Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett in the leading roles. With mere weeks left before filming was scheduled to begin, and with the film's sets almost finished in their construction, Pitt departed due to differences between himself and director Darren Aronofsky over the script. With its leading man gone, the film fell into limbo
