A week after showing off their first clips from Cowboys & Aliens online, Universal Pictures and have unleashed four more videos from Jon Favreau's upcoming sci-fi western. Check them out below and sound off with your thoughts. The film will be premiering at the San Diego Comic-Con later this week.

The film stars Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford, Olivia Wilde, Sam Rockwell, Adam Beach, Paul Dano, Noah Ringer, Keith Carradine, Clancy Brown, Ana de la Reguera and Abigail Spencer. Iron Man helmer Favreau took on the direction, based on a screenplay by Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman, Damon Lindelof, Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby.

Plot Concept: 1873. Arizona Territory. A stranger (Craig) with no memory of his past stumbles into the hard desert town of Absolution. The only hint to his history is a mysterious shackle that encircles one wrist. What he discovers is that the people of Absolution don't welcome strangers, and nobody makes a move on its streets unless ordered to do so by the iron-fisted Colonel Dolarhyde (Ford). It's a town that lives in fear.

But Absolution is about to experience fear it can scarcely comprehend as the desolate city is attacked by marauders from the sky. Screaming down with breathtaking velocity and blinding lights to abduct the helpless one by one, these monsters challenge everything the residents have ever known.

Now, the stranger they rejected is their only hope for salvation. As this gunslinger slowly starts to remember who he is and where he's been, he realizes he holds a secret that could give the town a fighting chance against the alien force. With the help of the elusive traveler Ella (Olivia Wilde), he pulls together a posse comprised of former opponents—townsfolk, Dolarhyde and his boys, outlaws and Apache warriors—all in danger of annihilation. United against a common enemy, they will prepare for an epic showdown for survival.

Cowboys & Aliens invades theaters July 29, 2011.

I'm really on the fence with this. I may hold off to see on video, I just can't tell if it's awesome or meh.

So far this Summer only Thor has got me out to the theatre, I think Cap will too.. but most of the movies haven't be really amazing so far. At least not enough to get my to spend 13 dollars and an hour of travel and having to deal with annoying people with no movie etiquette.

That speeder was combing the desert. You hear me? It was combing the desert! And they ain't found shit!

The clips look awesome. Nice jab to Indy's face there, Bond. Can't wait to see the rest of it.

I live alot closer to a number of theaters but I won't be seeing this until it hits DVD. These clips just haven't sold me enough to go see it in the theater.

I remember when they first announced this I couldn't have been more disinterested (the graphic novel was pretty weak to me).  After seeing the first trailer it looks like it has pretty much nothing to do with the GN other than the basic premise of how we'd deal with superior technology in the OId West, and the trailers have me intrigued enough that I'll likely head out to see it when it opens.

did you really want flying horses and Natives with exploding alien arrows? I'm sure we could always do Biker Mice from Mars to get that level of camp.

krathwardroid 7/20/2011 5:46:17 AM

midas: And it shouldn't, because the graphic novel played out more like a 1950s alien invasion in the old west. Some of the elements were a bit ridiculous, like Kaziklu pointed out; the Natives on horseback with alien metal-powered shoes to make them fly. You really don't want to see that in the movie. They changed almost everything about the story except for the premise. These changes are most welcome.

Man this looks like shit, worst comic book movie of the year by far. I won't see this til it hits tv, not even a rental from me ;->
