Universal Pictures has revealed the first trailer for their alien abduction thriller, The Fourth Kind, which is based on real-life events. SCI FI Wire posted the debut trailer that you can check out in the video player below. The film stars Milla Jovovich, Will Patton, Elias Koteas, Corey Johnson, Alisha Seaton and Enzo Cilenti. Director Olatunde Osunsanmi led the production behind the camera from a screenplay he wrote with Terry Robbins.

Plot Concept: In 1972, a scale of measurement was established for alien encounters. When a UFO is sighted, it is called an encounter of the first kind. When evidence is collected, it is known as an encounter of the second kind. When contact is made with extraterrestrials, it is the third kind. The next level, abduction, is the fourth kind. This encounter has been the most difficult to document...until now.

Structured unlike any film before it, "The Fourth Kind" is a provocative thriller set in modern-day Nome, Alaska, where—mysteriously since the 1960s—a disproportionate number of the population has been reported missing every year. Despite multiple FBI investigations of the region, the truth has never been discovered.

Here in this remote region, psychologist Dr. Abigail Tyler (Milla Jovovich) began videotaping sessions with traumatized patients and unwittingly discovered some of the most disturbing evidence of alien abduction ever documented.

Using never-before-seen archival footage that is integrated into the film, "The Fourth Kind" exposes the terrified revelations of multiple witnesses. Their accounts of being visited by alien figures all share disturbingly identical details, the validity of which is investigated throughout the film.

The Fourth Kind will hit theaters November 6, 2009.

Here's the trailer.

If I was in to psychologically scary, I'd be looking forward to this.  As far as aliens go, I'll stick to District 9.  I like seeing my aliens in broad daylight.  Or at least in sci-fi thriller type movies.

Though after watching the trailer, if I ever wake up to see an owl staring at me through my window while it's still dark outside, it'll be the last mistake that @#!%ing owl ever makes.  My friend Mr. Mossberg will see to that.

You gotta wonder what 6 months of Darkness will do to a persons psyche.

It could be true, but it could be some kind of mass Seasonal Psycological disorder.

just sayin'

Why Alaska?

Did anyone catch the directors name? It's as crazy as the people who claim to have been alines are gonna travel millions of light years just to stick something up your butt

So let me get this, 3rd kind is contact with Aliens, BUT 4th kind is when they abduct you!  Isn't that kinda like having an alien stalker? Why 4th kind. The 5th kind ask for your Cell no. Sounds highly Implausible, but could make good movie, I liked fire in the sky & that was supposedly based on true events, but based on probably just meant that loggers exist & so does the forrest!!!!!

Looks good!

hanso 8/14/2009 3:48:28 AM

No no no.  Why would the 5th kind be asking you for your cell?  They already abducted you with the 4th kind, no need for your #.  The 5th kind is obviously rape by anal probes.

xenomorph 8/14/2009 6:58:54 AM

Is the 5th kind when they shove a big metal rod up your butt? Seriously, what is it with aliens and butt sex? Do they all have some kind of weird sexual fetish?

ponyboy76 8/14/2009 7:34:13 AM

I'm not even going to watch the trailer because for some reason shit like tha truly freaks me out, but I never really understood the whole "anal probe" thing. I mean if aliens exist, which I believe they do, and are an intelligent species, why would they automatically go for your ass. They can clearly see that you have another orifice to utilize , in your mouth if they wish to look inside you. And if they can design spacecraft in which to travel millions of light years, you are going to tell me, not one of them has thought to design some sort of non invasive body scanner? Aliens probably intercept our tv shows about stuff like this and think we're anal obssessed.

The 5th kind is probably them telling you they'll call, but they won't.

I can’t stand it when a film has to use the “based on actual evens” tag to make it seem better. This is bullshit. Why can’t a good movie just say fiction? Instead they act like this may be real so it’s much scarier. When I see this it usually means our only hook is trying to make you believe. So this might make it as a rental. I will not be more scared if you lie to me and say “based on actual events” got it good.

Even in Nome it isn't dark for 6 months.  That's crazy talk.
