With J.J. Abrams' upcoming series "Alcatraz" being one of the new shows confirmed for Fox's Fall 2011-2012 Schedule, the network has officially revealed the trailer which was shown at the up-front presentation along with some screenshots. Check them out below.

The mystery will star Sarah Jones, Jorge Garcia, Sam Neill, Parminder Nagra, Robert Forster, Jonny Coyne and Santiago Cabrera. J.J. Abrams and Elizabeth Sarnoff ("LOST", "Deadwood") will oversee the series as executive producers.

Plot Concept: When San Francisco Police Department Det. Rebecca Madsen (Jones) is assigned to a grisly homicide case, a fingerprint leads her to a shocking suspect: Jack Sylvane (guest star Jeffrey Pierce), a former Alcatraz inmate who died decades ago. Given her family history – both her grandfather and surrogate uncle, Ray Archer (Forster), were guards at the prison – Madsen’s interest is immediately piqued, and once the enigmatic, knows-everything-but-tells-nothing government agent Emerson Hause (Neill) tries to impede her investigation, she’s doggedly committed. Madsen turns to Alcatraz expert and comic book enthusiast, Dr. Diego "Doc" Soto (Garcia), to piece together the inexplicable sequence of events. The twosome discovers that Sylvane is not only alive, but he’s loose on the streets of San Francisco, leaving bodies in his wake. And strangely, he hasn’t aged a day since he was in Alcatraz, when the prison was ruled by the iron-fisted Warden Edwin James (Coyne) and the merciless Associate Warden E.B. Tiller (Jason Butler Harner).

Madsen and Soto reluctantly team with Agent Hauser and his technician, Lucy Banerjee (Nagra), to stop Sylvane’s vengeful killing spree. By delving into Alcatraz history, government cover-ups and Rebecca’s own heritage, the team will ultimately discover that Sylvane is only a small part of a much larger, more sinister present-day threat. For while he may be the first, it quickly becomes clear that Sylvane won’t be the last prisoner to reappear from Alcatraz.

Through the course of the investigation, Madsen and Soto will learn that Agent Hauser has known about the prison’s secret history and has been awaiting the prisoners’ return. Soto will witness his life’s work – the history of Alcatraz – come alive. Madsen will be forced to keep her supportive San Francisco cop fiancé, Jimmy Dickens (Cabrera), at arm’s length from the highly classified assignment as she sees everything she thought she knew about her family’s past shattered, all while fighting to keep the country safe from history’s most dangerous criminals.

Cool.  It looks like Lost, Fringe, Shawshank Redemption and Breakout Kings had a baby all without being derivative.

hanso 5/16/2011 4:57:26 PM

Sean Connery broke them out yo!

Wiseguy 5/16/2011 4:58:35 PM

These big conspiracy stories are getting old already for me. Because if they're not well thought out from the beginning they end being a convoluted mess by the end ala Lost.

Having said and with Sam Neil in it I'm tempted to give it a shot anyway

jedibanner 5/16/2011 5:23:43 PM

I'm in, looks interesting.

Wiseguy 5/16/2011 5:56:38 PM

Sean Connery? I think you mean Clint Eastwood

Calibur454 5/16/2011 6:01:20 PM

lol hanso come on man go old school- it was clint eastwood yo-

decepticons2 5/16/2011 6:02:45 PM

Sam Neil desrves a shot. But Wiseguy is spot on. When a network picks up a conspiracy show or one that has a plot tied all together they should have a firm ourline. If the show is succesful and they want to sneak an extra season close to the end power to them. Most of the time its oh lets just redo episode 20 and time travel say shocking death we can bring them back. Ugh, thats a list waiting top 10 stupid television loopholes for contunity.

Good to see that Sam Neil is still working. He's a great actor. Too bad he made Daybreakers, but hey, eveyone has bills to pay.

krakken 5/16/2011 7:05:10 PM
