Fox Searches for New Elvira

Fox Reality has given the go ahead for the new reality TV show THE SEARCH FOR THE NEXT ELVIRA.

The Mistress of the Dark, played by Cassandra Peterson, will help host the series which will feature thirteen constestants who will be picked from a casting call held on the Queen Mary ship on July 13th.  Episodes will be being airing in mid-October and the "new" Elvira will be announced on Halloween night.

Peterson told the Hollywood Reporter, "There are simply too many ghastly engagements for one Mistress of the Dark to entertain. I am searching for someone to share my tricks with -- someone to help spread the Halloween spirit."

Queen "B" Productions, Panacea Entertainment, and Natural 9 Entertainment will produce the program.  Cassandra Peterson will executive produce.

The New Elvira, the New Britney Spears, the New Marilyn Munroe, the New... how about rather than find replacements to our icons, come up with something NEW??? Elvira is Cassandra Peterson. Just as James T. Kirk is William Shatner. This stuff shouldn't be messed with. (I'm not even an Elvira fan, I shouldn't care about this, though yes, she does have nice cleavage... but ANYWAY...).

Yeah, nice cleavage, but has Elvira done anything since that awful comedy/sppof she did back in the 80s? I haven't seen her since then, so do we really need a NEW Elvira? Unless the new horror channel wants her to be a host or something like that.

Good idea, Cassandra Peterson is pretty much just being held together with spackle and rubber cement at this point...think Goldie Hawn at the end of Death Becomes Her. Actually, think Goldie Hawn in real life in 2007! :-)

There isn't such a thing as a new Elvira--the old Elvira was actually a "revamp" of Vampira from the 50's...only more cleavage. So in actuality the new Elvira is a new Vampira...with cleavage, did I forget to mention that? And Cassandra Peterson's best role was in "Pee Wee's Big Adventure" where she played the biker moll who wanted Pee Wee for an hour before he did his tecquila dance...

OK, I'm a-gonna buck the trend here, and say that I like this idea. This is a campy character, and the reality show should then be terrifically campy as well. Please note, other than the PBS/BBC "House" series, I don't watch reality shows. But I could catch an episode of this. If my wife is working late, that is...
