Never thought this was very good. And it wasn't the first to mix animation with real life so nothing exciting here really.
Is there another reason you didn't like it other than it had been done before? If that's the case then 90% of films wouldn't be exciting.
Combining animation and live action had been done since the 20's. And many of the films were done by Disney. Off the top of my head I can think of Pete's Dragon, Mary Poppins, and Song of the South. But I think Roger Rabbit was definitely ground breaking in the "realistic" way the toons interacted with the humans.
When are they going to do a Blu-Ray version of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea that's 59 years old?
