Writer/Director Frank Darabont has unveiled a new behind-the-scenes featurette for THE MIST, an adaptation of the Stephen King novel. Frank is no novice to King's work having adapted The Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile. In the featurette below, you'll see an excited Darabont show you the before and after of a scene between veteran actress Francis Sternhagen and a giant spider..

Plot Concept: Following a violent thunderstorm, artist David Drayton and a small town community come under vicious attack from creatures prowling in a thick and unnatural mist. Local rumors point to an experiment called the 'The Arrowhead Project' conducted at a nearby top-secret military base, but questions as to the origins of the deadly vapor are secondary to the group’s overall chances for survival.

THE MIST hits theaters everywhere November 21, 2007.

Well, it looks like they are having a lot of fun with this movie at least. I might check this out. Darabont has a good record esp. adapting Stephen King stories, so I am game.

The more I see from this movie the more I want to see it. Read the book about 15 years ago and liked it but the movie so far looks great.

This is THE movie to see! This story was the first horror and first Steven King I ever read ( I was in freakin 4th grade!) and went to a small grocery store with a drug store next to it...just like the movie. And lived on a lake...just like they did. And had amazing nightmares and severe arachnophobia to boot. So far, the visuals I dreamed up I see here! Awesome!

Yea while researching a bit about King for this week's book buzz, I found out that he has a very good working relationship with Darabont. Personally SHAWSHANK is one of my top 3 all-time favorite movies, and it's great to know that this kick-ass premise isn't being executed by some nubcake.

There's a link to the theatrical trailer in the book buzz column so if you haven't seen it check it out, I love it when the black dude says, "Well if there is, then I guess the joke would be on me"
