Graphic novelist and director, Frank Miller, talked with Variety on his upcoming THE SPIRIT as well as giving an update on SIN CITY 2 and what the story for it will revolve around. He lets the trade magazine know that there will be a sequel but the timing depends on when director Robert Rodriguez and Miller has a schedule opened wide enough for it. They're both sought after lately in Hollywood. Rodriguez is currently working on the remake of the science fiction cult classic, BARBARELLA. Miller is currently working on adapting THE SPIRIT.
Miller's description of "Spirit" : "It's the story of Sand Saref," he says, referring to a plot that first ran in newspapers on Jan. 8, 1950, full of danger-laced romance, espionage and early germ-warfare elements. "It's about the first love of Spirit's life, who has turned to a life of crime, and he has to bring her to justice."
"I've been writing every word of it myself and storyboarding every frame," he says. "This is a real work of love, and it's become my life completely."
Miller's description of "Sin City 2": "We have a script and an ideal cast in mind," Miller says. "It's based on the graphic novel 'A Dame to Kill For.'
