Figures.com broke everyone's first look at next summer's line of THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS action figure line, based on the classic Frank Miller graphic novel of the same name. Four figures will make up the line including Miller's version of the Batman, the new teenage girl Robin, The Joker and Superman, all done in the style they appear in the comic story.
Each of the figures will come with their own base for posing as well as a removable item that relates to their appearance in the story. For example, the Superman figure will ship with alternate hands that hold a crushed Bat-armor helmet and a kryptonite arrow; Robin has her trademark slingshot and a rope; The Joker has twin pistols and the talking doll seen in the story; and the Batman has a Batarang and rope. The figures range in size from 4 7/8" (Robin) to 7 3/8" tall and have multiple points of articulation.
Here's the bad news: THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS action figures won't be on sale until July 21, 2004 -- so at least you have plenty of time to start saving your pennies. Click on any of the images to see larger looks of the characters.
