Morgan Freeman is the latest to be cast in Universal Pictures' upcoming sci-fi project Oblivion, the adaptation of the Radical Publishing comic book by director Joseph Kosinski (TRON Legacy). Freeman will be joined by the previously-confirmed stars Tom Cruise, Olga Kurylenko and Andrea Riseborough. The director will be working off a screenplay by William Monahan and Karl Gajdusek as well as some rewrites by Michael Arndt.
Plot Concept: In a future where the Earth's surface has been irradiated beyond recognition, the remnants of humanity live above the clouds, safe from the brutal alien Scavengers that stalk the ruins. But when surface drone repairman Jak discovers a mysterious woman in a crash-landed pod, it sets off an unstoppable chain of events that will force him to question everything he knows.
Oblivion will arrive in theaters July 19, 2013.
Man I'm excited about this. Wish the graphic novel would finally come out. It has been delayed like four times, probably to do with the film.
