From Dark Water to Wicker Men

Following his music for Walter Salles' horror film DARK WATER, composer Angelo Badalamenti continues to explore the darker side of his vocabulary. He has been hired to write the music for THE WICKER MAN, a remake of the British 1973 cult thriller.

The new version of the film is directed by Neil LaBute and stars Nicolas Cage as the sheriff who tries to solve a mystery on a small island, where a young girl has disappeared. Ellen Burstyn, Leelee Sobieski and Molly Parker also stars in the film. Badalamenti came to note in the late 1980s with his association with David Lynch on scores for BLUE VELVET and TV's TWIN PEAKS. He also scored the director's MULHOLLAND DRIVE, the 2002 remake of TV's THE LATHE OF HEAVEN, and themes for Eli Roth's CABIN FEVER.

The first Wicker Man was really good, I hope Cage and Co. don't F it up. Of course the first film being British and the remake being American it's already F'd up.

The original "Wicker Man" was great, but knowing the way some Hollywood studios are f'ng up remakes, it will probably be poor to fair. I mean who really wanted to see "The Weather Man." (it wasn't a remake.)

Doesn't Angelo Badalamenti also do the theme for Bravo's "Inside the Actor's Studio?"

I like "Dark water" and Badalameti's score. I wouldn't be suprised if he did "Inside the Actor's Studio". It certainly sounds alot like his tune, especially something out of "Twin Peaks" the series.

If only Christopher Lee would reprise his role from the original - if he did that it would lend the remake a huge slab of credibility which is extremely lacking at the moment.

I enjoy the original "Wicker Man" just as much as the next person but I really don't mind remakes either--they have their entertaiment value. Yes. Christopher Lee would be great for a cameo. And let us not forget Britt Ekland. In fact, Edward Woodward should make a cameo too. That would be funny. Looking forward to the score.

I HATE all these damned REMAKES! Can't Hollywood come up with any more NEW ideas? The Wicker Man is a classic, and should STAY that way. All the new one will be is a f-ed up version, like so many remakes have been. I have the collectors edition Wicker Boxed box set version(the case is a wooden case, that's all weathered looking), and the movie is great. Why Hollywod is SO insistant on remaking every classic is beyond me. LEAVE 'FORBIDDEN PLANET' ALONE, you crap ass Hollywood....THAT one is sacred!
