While on the run to Mexico, Seth and Richie encounter former pastor Jacob Fuller (Patrick) and his family, whom they take hostage.  Using the family RV to cross the border, chaos ensues when the group detours to a strip club that is populated by vampires.  They are forced to fight until dawn in order to get out alive. The series deepens the tone and expands the storyline of the film, adds new characters and backstories, and explores the Mesoamerican mythology behind the creatures inside the club.

Does anyone even get the 'El Rey' network?

Back in the day I thought Rodriguez had it going on but then he kept making movies like the Spy Kids franchise and (possibly one of the worst movies I have watched)  - The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lava Girl... and he lost the magic as far as I am concerned.  Sin City - good - not great.  Might catch this if it's available on Netflix and I've got time to burn - otherwise probably not.

It was on Comcast at my sister's house. It's on Direct TV but not at my price level ( free with my apt). It's OK from what I saw, shows stuff unedited, but they simply don't have a great deal of programming yet.  You'll see the same movie about 10 times in one week.
