After losing Robert Rodriguez from the director's chair, Paramount has sought
SKY CAPTAIN AND THE WORLD OF TOMORROW helmer Kerry Conran to bring
A PRINCESS OF MARS to the silver screen. Conran is in talks to develop the classic Edgar Rice Burroughs science fiction adventure as a film; it's unknown whether he'll write the script or seek to hire a screenwriter to pen a new draft, or even if Conran's take remains faithful to the late 19th century setting from Burroughs' book.
Paramount is keen on finally getting its
MARS movie made because it smells franchise all over it. With an ambitious special effects laden film such as
SKY CAPTAIN already under his belt, Conran would seem an easy choice to attempt to bring the lush vistas of John Carter's Mars to life.
