Two greats from the 50's. Tarantula is absolutely one of the top films in the subgenre, behind Them and my personal favorite, The Deadly Mantis. Tarantula has that great subplot about how the growth drug affects humans, and one of the all-time great SFX scenes as the tarantula walks from miles away right up to Mara Corday (The Queen of Bug Movies)'s window. And of course, how can any movie with Nestor Paiva as the sheriff be bad?
Earth vs the Spider (which I saw originally under the title The Spider (It Must Eat You To Live) ) was a number of notches down in quality but a great example of AIP at its drive-in best. Always like the scene where after the spider rampages through downtown it's shown destroying a quiet residential neighborhood-one that probably looked just like the one where most 50's moviegoers lived!

Watch Tarantula a week ago. Still works for me.
Yeah you can see those Eastwood eyebrows and hear that voice in the cockpit in the last few minutes.
