Too Many Villains?

Here is the full trailer for the Amazing Spider-Man 2. As a life long Spider-Man fan, I really like what I see here. It captures the heart and feel of the characters involved. My only apprehension is when I see too many villains in a film. I did love the quick shot of the Adrian Toomes’ Vulture wings. That was a nice touch.

The Plot: In the 2014 sequel, Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) finds life is busy – between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can't come quickly enough. Peter hasn't forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen's father to protect her by staying away – but that's a promise he just can't keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 features Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Paul Giamatti, Dane DeHaan, Colm Feore, Sally Field and Chris Cooper.

It's effing AMAZING

I loved it. Electro's fight sequence is badass. And even Rhino and Goblin looked good.

Loved the peak at Doc Ock's tentacles and Vulture's wings. Plus the doors opening hinting at Sinister Six

That does look much bigger and epic than I expected. I thought Electro would be the main villain but this makes it look like every bad guy has a distinct slice of the pie.

At the beginning I thought the entire Parker voiceover was being done by Tobey Macguire.

I didn't hate the first film, I thought it was just OK. It could be a mistake going with two villains.

Wiseguy 12/5/2013 7:23:08 AM

That's why they're going with three :)

KungPow 12/5/2013 7:39:38 AM

It looks theater worthy, but I am not going to go out and see it opening weekend.  I'll see how the reviews come in first.  I am with redvector on this, the first film was OK, but not great.

Three villains?  Do we really need three?  Didn't another SM movie kind of suck because of villain overkill?  Not that the trailer looks bad.  It looks awesome...and I like this reboot more than Raimi's version...but I hope they're not ignoring past mistakes and shooting themselves in the foot.

Sanity, it looks like they are working themselves up to the Sinister Six probably for the third movie so they are introducing some of the villains here. They most likely appear seperately in short scenes to let the audience know they exist but won't have them all together until the next film.

I'm assuming.

The ride at universal is better.

Logic 12/5/2013 7:54:00 AM

Did no one else notice the Doc Oc arms/ Vulture wings in the trailer?

Wiseguy 12/5/2013 8:03:03 AM

Nah I think the SS will be saved for a sequel further down the road. Maybe once one of them realizes that alone no one has beaten Spidey and like Doc Ock in the comics calls them all to gang up on Spidey. I'm assuming it'll be the Goblin making that call in the film version.

And I wonder if Gwen dies on this one and if so it'll probably be where all them gears were grinding

Logic have you no sense? :) jk cause I mentioned those in my first comment
