There's been a few changes to the DVD release of HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX by Warner Bros Home Video. One of those changes is the additional/deleted scenes which was originally listed as 10 minutes of footage not seen in the theatrical version. According to a press release by the studio, it's now 17 minutes of additional footage for the DVD which hits stores on December 11, 2007.
Here's the details:
The rebellion begins in Harry Potter's fifth year at Hogwarts and no Muggle will want to miss the excitement when Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix arrives on DVD this December 11th from Warner Home Video. In Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Lord Voldemort has returned but the Ministry of Magic is doing everything it can to keep the wizarding world from knowing the truth - including appointing Ministry official Dolores Umbridge as the new Defense Against the Darks Arts professor at Hogwarts. When Umbridge refuses to teach practical defensive magic, Ron and Hermione convince Harry to secretly train a select group of students for the wizarding war that lies ahead. A terrifying showdown between good and evil awaits in this enthralling film version of the fifth novel in J.K. Rowling's series. Prepare for battle!
From acclaimed director David Yates (BBC's State of Play, Upcoming Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince), Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix brings back the ensemble cast including Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter series, upcoming December Boys), Emma Watson (Harry Potter series) and Rupert Grint (Harry Potter series, Driving Lessons) as well as two-time Academy Award Winner Maggie Smith (Gosford Park, A Room With A View, Harry Potter film series), Academy Award Winner Emma Thompson (Sense and Sensibility, Howards End), Academy Award Nominee Ralph Fiennes (Schindler's List, The English Patient), Alan Rickman (Love Actually, Die Hard, Harry Potter film series), and Gary Oldman (Batman Begins, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire). SYNOPSIS
In Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Harry returns for his fifth year of study at Hogwarts only to discover that much of the wizarding community has been led to believe that the story of the teenager's recent encounter with the evil Lord Voldemort is a lie, putting Harry's integrity in question. Worse, the Minister for Magic, Cornelius Fudge, has appointed a new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, the duplicitous Professor Dolores Umbridge. But Professor Umbridge's "Ministry-approved" course of defensive magic leaves the young wizards woefully unprepared to defend themselves against the Dark Forces threatening them, so at the prompting of his friends Hermione and Ron, Harry is convinced to take matters into his own hands. Meeting secretly with a small group of students who name themselves "Dumbledore's Army," Harry teaches them how to defend themselves against the Dark Arts, preparing the courageous young wizards for the extraordinary battle that lies ahead.

I suppose there might be a few token features in this gift set that won't be found in future ones, but really - Why would anyone drop $120-150 on this when we know it is not the entire series?! Maybe they're hoping clueless, cheek-pinching aunts will buy this for their HP-loving nephews - that or the truly obsessed folk who are rich enough to buy every single item with the words Harry Potter on it. Otherwise, I question your mental faculties for buying a gift set that is 71.4% complete.
But at least there honest about it being a limited edition as this particular set will not be released again. :-p
