As Maniac Hanso passed along, creative consultant (and co-writer) Bryan Fuller has exited "Heroes" yet again, reports EW's Michael Ausiello. The website reports his latest desision to leave the NBC series is due to his slate of upcoming pilots for the network and not because of some rumored creative differences with executive producer Tim Kring.
"I'm crafting two pilots right now and it's a lot of work," admits Fuller, who has an overall deal with NBC. "It was just too hard to [juggle] Heroes and my development; something had to give."
The next chapter of the popular TV series will feature Robert Knepper (T-Bag in "Prison Break") as the new lead villain for at least six episodes of the next season. Fellow newcomers include "Californication" actress Madeline Zima, who's been tapped to play Claire's quirky college roommate, Ray Park and Deanne Bray ("Sue Thomas: F.B.Eye").
Knepper will play Samuel, a Jim Jones type -- charismatic but evil, with a twisted sense of humor -- who will veer into the lives of all heroes. The character had been referred to as "Carnival Barker" in the series breakdown released last month.
"Heroes" is slated to return in the fall for a "Lost"-style all-original run in a new time slot at 8 p.m. on Mondays. The sci-fi drama -- which enjoys a strong online following -- will share its time period with another fan favorite, "Chuck," which will take over in midseason.
Chuck's going to demolish Heroes anyway. Heroes is on its way out. And even if they were able to keep Fuller on, the show still would've sucked. I got tired of it after about 2 episodes of the second season.
