FUNimation is paying attention to a segment of its purchasing base by unveiling today something new that you wonder why it hasn't been done before (and bigger). With so many fans being under the age of twenty-one and having a hard time getting credit cards to buy their favorite anime online, since fewer and fewer retailers stock it, the company is working with Visa branded prepaid cards that bear some key pieces of artwork from some of their shows, such as Sg. Frog, Tsubasa, Soul Eater, Fruits Basket and AFro Samurai. New designs are going to be added over time as well. According to the blog post about it, they're intended for those who want to get in on the great anime deals online, such as we see FUNimation doing via Amazon and Right Stuf frequently, so they don't feel left out.

"Cards are available for the 13-17 age with parental permission and then of course 18+ too. Plans and fees for the FUNimation Prepaid Card vary and card maximum may change or fees may apply based on the plan selected."
