Just a month after 20th Century Fox TV pleased Futurama fans by announcing the series' long-awaited return, the production shingle is doing their best to ruin the fandom experience. But considering the company we're talking about here we probably shouldn't sound too surprised at this latest development.
ForcesofGeek.com is reporting that a casting call has gone out to replace the show's regular voice actors John DiMaggio, Phil LaMarr, Maurice LaMarche, Billy West and Katy Sagal. And it seems the decision to recast isn't mutually amicable from both sides here as this revelation comes via the Facebook pages of some of the voice actors who were surprised at the decision to recast.

For their part, Fox TV tells The Hollywood Reporter that a decision to replace the lead cast was only made after they failed to meet salary demands with the old crew. The studio approached the original cast members after reaching a deal with Comedy Central in June to produce 26 new episodes of the series but sources indicated that the voice actors had been seeking at least a tenfold increase of what they made when the animated series ran on Fox from 1999-2003.
"We love the 'Futurama' voice performers and absolutely wanted to use them, but unfortunately, we could not meet their salary demands," the studio said in a statement Friday. "While replacing these talented actors will be difficult, the show must go on. We are confident that we will find terrific new performers to give voice to (creators) Matt (Groening) and David (Cohen)'s brilliantly subversive characters."'
The same sources say it's still possible that the two sides may come to an agreement.

Change the show, new characters, and call it "Futurama: The Next Generation".

The original cast will be back, the casting call is a bluff by Fox because they suck and we all know they suck. Something will eventually be worked out because it doesn't make any sense to bring back Futurama if the original voices won't be coming back with them because let's face it no one else could play Bender, but John DiMaggio. So I say if they do we recast the fans all tell them to bite our shiny metal butts.

Tell your friends not to watch, let FOX dump a bunch of money into an abamination they call futurama (which isn't without the original talent) and then let them lose money on a failure instead of making money on a cash cow!!!!
Futuram has gained a cult following over it's 10 year cancellation, a damn loyal following, and we will boycott any shit they try to pass off like this shit. The actors should hold out for more $$$$ they're worth it, and they're the characters, not the animated cell. (sorry animators, I;m an illustrator, but the voice actors bring them to life)
