Future Comics has made changes concerning its publishing plans.
Co-founders Bob Layton and Dick Giordano have switched artistic duties on the upcoming series FREEMIND. Giordano will now be the regular penciler of the series with Layton providing the finished art.
"I guess I bit off more than I could chew, as far as my work commitments," Layton says. "After some health issues arose, we decided that I should lighten up my workload and devote my time to the things that only I could do -- namely running Future Comics. And since inking is more of a second nature to me, it was logical to make the switch. And-- lets face it, FREEMIND is about real people and no one draw real folks better than Dickie."
Future Comics also announced that ST.SYNN, Future Comics second series, has been put on hold, pending the response to FREEMIND.
"Again, I don't want to commit all of our resources until we're sure we have the support for it," Layton says. "One of the things I was opposed to, during my tenure at Valiant's editor-in-chief, was that upper management kept putting out hastily planned books in order to make their projected numbers for the budget. We will never allow Future Comics to be governed by 'number crunchers' or corporate greed. For David Michelinie, Dick Giordano and myself, this is strictly going to be a 'labor of love'.
