The film, which earned $89.7 million in theaters, sold 67% more units in its first week than its nearest competitor, fellow newcomer Saw IV, from Lionsgate, which debuted at No. 2 on the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert sales chart.
The previous week's top seller, Fox's "Family Guy Presents: Blue Harvest," slipped to No. 3 in its second week, while Lionsgate's Good Luck Chuck fell two spots to No. 4.
On Home Media Magazine's rental chart, "Game Plan" came out ahead with estimated rental revenue of $10.2 million, bumping "Chuck," the previous week's top renter, to No. 2 with a $9.2 million take. Saw IV debuted at No. 3 with $8.2 million, or 13% of its $63.1 million theatrical gross.
Saw IV was the week's top Blu-ray Disc seller, beating "Game Plan" among the early-adopter crowd. The Bourne Ultimatum was the top HD DVD seller for the week.
