Game of Thrones Season 4 Update

The absolute worst thing about Game of Thrones is that it is too short. Here is the preview for next week’s episode “Oathkeeper”. A great tease for next week, but we are almost at the half way point! The next episode of Game of Thrones airs Sunday at 9PM, only on HBO.

I agree, I can only imagine how massively expensive each of these episodes are to produce, but even so 10 a year is too few.  Twelve to sixteen would be better.

6-8 million each - but they're making enough that they could easily afford to at least go to 13 episode seasons.  I wonder if the real reason they're keeping them so contained to avoid outrunning the books ... or at least delay outrunning the books as long as possible.

That's partially the reason.

GoT has been renewed for seasons 5 and 6. These will no doubt cover books 4 and 5 as they happen at the same time. So we will probably stuff from book 5 in the first episode next season.

By the time season 6 is over in 2016. I'm sure season 7 will up and ready to go for 2017. Rumours is book 6 will be released late 2015. The only problem is the last book. Say they split book 6 for 2017 and 2018 seasons, what will they have for 2019? I doubt Martin will have book 7 ready by then.
