Game of Thrones arrives 4-6-14
It is always great to see our favorite characters as the actors that they really are. Check out this “Weapons & Training” featurette from the upcoming season of Game of Thrones!
Synopsis: Encouraged by the Red Wedding slaughter in the Riverlands that wiped out many of their Stark nemeses, the Lannisters’ hold on the Iron Throne remains intact … but can they survive their own egos, as well as new and ongoing threats from the south, north and east? While an unbowed Stannis Baratheon continues to rebuild his army in Dragonstone, a more immediate danger comes from the south, as Oberyn Martell, the Lannister-loathing “Red Viper of Dorne,” arrives at King’s Landing to attend Joffrey’s wedding to Margaery Tyrell, and perhaps act on an ulterior agenda. In the north, a depleted Night’s Watch seems overmatched against the inexorable Wall advances of Mance Rayder’s army of wildlings, which in turn is being trailed by an even more formidable foe: the undead White Walkers. As if that weren’t enough, Daenerys Targaryen, accompanied by her menacing trio of dragons and army of Unsullied, is poised to liberate Meereen, the largest city in Slaver’s Bay, which could ultimately provide her with enough ships to sail to Westeros and reclaim the Iron Throne.

Really like these behind the scenes segments.  It gives one a little idea of all the planning, work, and the incredible costs that go into producing this show (it's the most expensive series on television by far).  I read that HBO has planned to do a total of 7 seasons.  Someone who reads the books may think it will be impossible to cover everything in that span but HBO has a way of condensing things when costs really start to skyrocket. The best way to keep HBO from prematurely pulling the plug on this series would be to get all your friends to subscribe to the premium channel (if you've figured out a way to watch it without subscribing don't be surprised when it goes away - like Deadwood)

ahhh, Deadwood... i miss Timothy Oliphaunt and Ian McShane sparring off with one another... what an amazing series gone bye bye. My love for Deadwood lead me to Justified which I have an attachment to as well. Great point though, blank, HBO deserves some of my cashola for this wonderful series alone.

HBO is getting my cash when I buy this series on blu-ray.

According to one of the showrunners, GoT is one of the most pirated shows on TV yet their DVD and blu-ray sales are still incredibly high.

I download the show and own all the Blu Ray sets. I only download because I refuse to pay for cable TV which is a requirement for having HBO. I want to watch the show as it comes out, not months later.

The day that HBO makes a service like Netflix is the day that I pay HBO directly for new releases. Otherwise they can piss off.

Deadwood production costs is the reason they cancelled the show in the first place and it was hbo's number show along with entourage but still hbo axed it...I will feel a little more comfortable about hbo's commitment to this show when the final season is filmed because we all know the production costs of game of thrones has got to be 10x higher than deadwood...
