isgrimmer, it does seem like they are catching up fast, but I don't think they'll get to the events at the end of book 5 for at least 3 or 4 more seasons.  If you think of the books in timeline chunks, books 1-3 each take up their own chunk of the timeline while books 4 and 5 take up the same chunk of timeline.  So by the end of season 4, we will just be finishing with book 3 events and maybe hinting at things to come.  So I'm thinking that seasons 5 - 6 and maybe 7 will encompass books 4 and 5.  Remember that once we reach Feast for Crows material, a slew of new POV characters show up ...

Spoilers (Asha, Victarion, Aeron, Arianne Martell, Areo, Quentyn, Griff) End Spoilers

So if I'm right, by the time season 7 or 8 rolls around in 2017 or 2018, The Winds of Winter will already have come out (it better have!!!) and that book's events will take up 2 more seasons.  Only then might we get in trouble if Martin hasn't fnished book 7 by 2020.  It'll be close since it was 6 years between books 4 and 5.  Even though the producers have said Martin has told them the gist of how it ends and they would be able to continue if they got ahead of the books, I'd really rather not see that happen.  I would honestly wait to read the books before watching the show again.

I predict that there will be five full minutes of "epic" battle in the season finale followed by a revelation that will not be touched upon again until near the end of Season 4. Oh, and boobs.

This series is playing out like a Judd Apatow flick...ya know, a chick flick disguised as a guy's movie. Yes, yes, I know, the political intrigue and back-biting and, and...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.......sorry, I fell asleep just thinking about it.

Honestly, why Grandpa Lannister doesn't just cut off Geoffrey's (however the fuck you spell his name) head and assume the throne and the power is beyond me. It's not like anyone would mind (except for Circe), and it wouldn't change anything currently happening in the rest of the kingdom. After all, the throne was taken before from an unpopular king, it could be done again. Not to mention that it would move the dreadfully, painfully, slow, plodding, meandering, wandering, excruciatingly stagnant plot along for a change.

Ah yes, Memorial Day. Always forget that now that I live in Canada. We just had our long weekend this past weekend.  I guess after 2 weeks off, episode 9 is going to feel even more amazing.

Calamity, that list was brilliant. It's pretty on point, although I think you are far underestimating Lady Olenna.  You should have started that earlier, it was funny and very well written.

My turn to join the weekly lovefest for the dungeons and dragons soap opera Game of Thrones. Why do we bother grading each episode can't we just award an A or A plus to the series right now?

How dare anyone say that the foul language, nudity and sex in GoT is gratuitous.  Historically HBO has never been a party to that behavior.  It was important to the viewer's understanding of the scene that the water level in the tub be low enough for us to see Daenerys' bare breasts, as it was necessary for us to see her naked backside when she emerged from her bath.  You know this show is a fantasy when you see all these bare asses and not a stretch mark or cellulite dimple in sight (great casting).

You don't have to read the books to know Sansa wasn't going to consummate the marriage....she's 14 years old !!   HBO pushes the envelope but they aren't stupid.

I could have done without the White Walkers in this story.  I'm totally Zombied out.  Thank god GRRM didn't add Vampires to this tale.  Shame on the computer graphic animators who tried to slip the same White Walker by us in 2 seasons.  We want them all to look different like snowflakes.

I don't know what will be resolved in the next 2 episodes.  Hopefully they'll finish all of the weddings.

Right now I don't care who becomes king (not impressed with any of them) including Momma's boy Rob.

Interesting post DaForce1.  I tend to agree with you that GoT just might be a chick story disguised as a guy show (it treads uncomfortably close to a gothic romance).  The majority of smart, strong characters are women (Tywin Lannister would be one of the exceptions).  HBO obviously wants men and women to like the show equally (they don't want to alienate half of their potential audience).  Guys are easy to please...just show us some naked females, and throw in a swordfight, angry bear, or decapitation / amputation / castration from time to time and we're hooked.

The reason the show moves so slowly is that there are endless subplots and characters.  Some of them we don't see for weeks.  For eample, I expect they'll resume Theon Greyjoy's torture in the next episode.

WTF MANIA?! Why can't I post?!?!?!

The Dany Code:

So, I had an epitome during this week's episode.  Have you noticed how ANYONE who either abuses, insults, is derogatory towards, or threatens Dany ... whether by afar or up-close ... ultimately meets their demise, in one fashion or another?  Let's reflect on those who fall into this category (based on the TV version):  Robert Baratheon, Viserys Targaryun, Khal Drogo (he did basically rape her on their wedding night), Mirri Maz Duur, Pyat Pree, Xaro Xhoan Daxos (though I think he was spared more in the book version), the would-be-assasin from Season 1, the would-be-assasin from this Season, the Unsullied Slave Master, and now, the two heads of the Second Sons who openly insulted and threatened her.  This seems to be a trend, and does not bode well for the likes of Lord Varys (who hired the assassin from Season 1) and Ser Jorah Mormont (who was feeding intel to Lord Varys on the whereabouts of Dany in Season 1, which aided in the eventual assassination attempt).

How can you people be complaining about the bed scene with Gendry and Melisandre?! BRILLIANT! She had to get his blood boiling in order for her magic to work properly, so how better than by way of the cowgirl? I was glad to see that they didn't kill him off - I like Gendry. BTW, Melisandre is by far the hottest broad in this show!

I sure hope that when Joffrey's time is up that he goes out the way of Theon - anything less than a slow death would be completely unacceptable to me... There's so many people that I want to see have the honor of killing this little prick!!!

as i'm in the mood for Top 10's, Mom brings up two good topics: Hottest GoT chicks and who should have dibs on Joffrey's come-uppance? So, why not...

Top 10 Hottest GoT babes

1. Daenarys - The Mother of Dragons would rile up any man age 12 - 85. I mean, seriously, she's got quite an entourage.

2. Cersei - Relationship poison she is. Cold as a white walker's tit, most definitely. But, Ms. Cersei would be one helluva lay. Just sayin'. Wonder if sister's gonna reveal some of that body once Jaime returns to King's Landing. We know she ain't shedding that gown for Lorus, the Knight of flowers, butterflies, and dandelions.

3. Talissa - Doesn't exist in the books, but damn, she's one of my favorite sub-characters. Too bad she has such a small part.

4. Igrette - CJ likes him some sassy fire crotch

5. Melisandre - Sorry Mom, but she's 5th on my list. She gives me the "old" vibe. Hot and supple, but I'm just not in the mood for tea and crumpets after rockin' it out in the sack, and something tells me she likes it that way.

6. Lady Margaery - Perhaps we underestimate this vixen. We've only seen her come onto Joffrey and the late, wanna-be-king, Renley. A hot steamy affair with a more suitable character could deftly amp up her value.

7. Asha Greyjoy - (SLIGHT SPOILER ALERT) Theon's sister, who apparently plays a more prominent role in the future, comes in at seven. GoT has its share of feisty femmes, and that's a wonderful thing.

8. Doreah - You remember her, the hand maiden that taught Daenarys the "womanly arts" of how to pleasure a man (Khal Drogo, her husband). Yeah, on the show she betrays Daenarys, but damn, she nice.

9. Bronn's whore - C'mon, now, please don't tell me I have to remind you which one. Y'know, earlier in season 3 when Tyrion is afriad to leave the roost and summons Bronn at a very inopportune moment? Yep, that chick. Wow.

10. Sansa Stark - Honestly, I'm not that fond of her. I just couldn't think of a viable 10th hotty. Catelyn is fairly attractive... but oldish. Her sister on the throne at the Aery is pukish. Olenna? Heh. Arya, too young, although we all know at 18 she's gonna be FINE. Not too fond of Joffrey's recent crossbow target. Sansa gets it out of empathy for her pain.

I'll hit up the top 10 folks who owe Joffrey a hurtin' in my next post...
