Countdown

Gamer’s Odyssey

Welcome to another Countdown, where you can look outside and see how pretty it has become but stay inside to play fantastic games. Do not worry... I will not judge you... Unless you are a videogame. Anyways game releases this week have picked up over last week, which is good to see. I personally wonder if last week was moderately influenced by the release of Spiderman, mainly for the lack of games, but that makes me wonder how deeply different mediums are connected. Where would they decide to draw the line on slowing releases? When a hit TV show is about to go off the air? Anyways I will leave my ponderings to myself, or maybe a future blog. It's time to move on to the games of the week.

Shrek the 3rd (PS2 - Xbox 360 - Wii) - Continuing the trend of movie tie-ins here we have another set of Shrek games to capitalize on the hopeful success of the movie. They should be pretty good, and easy achievements on the Xbox 360 if we look to the many prior movie games.

Innocent Life: A Futuristic Harvest Moon (PSP) - Thankfully we have another Harvest Moon game that should delight virtual farmers everywhere. Hopefully it also draws in a few of the WoW farmers so that they can stay off of my server but that looks a little doubtful. I currently love the series but I hope they do something to totally shake it up, perhaps like farming with other people online. Will they ever make a better game than Harvest Moon 64? That is just personal feelings, but it should be a fun game to pick up.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance Gold (Xbox 360) - If you were ever curious about getting the Marvel Ultimate Alliance games well now is as good of time as any. With this gold edition all of the downloads are on the disk so that you can start out with anyone you may want to, plus easy multiplayer via online play.

Monster Madness: Battle for Suburbia (Xbox 360 - PC) - Four friends get together for a party while the parents are away but something is about to crash the party. Of course the story hardly matters in an action game so long as the action is good. The game comes off a bit like Smash TV in the arcade battle style and odd (and upgradeable) weapons, but with the unique monster design found in the classic game Zombies Ate my Neighbours. It should be a pretty good game to pick up if you are thinking about wanting to battle undead foes.

Resident Evil 4 (PC) - Well if you do not own a PS2 or a NGC now you can try out Resident Evil 4. My personal favourite in the series has the main character searching for the President's daughter while battling off the creepiest villagers I have ever seen. I do not believe that the Village People would be happy to know that there is a creepy village like this in virtual existence.

Etrian Odyssey (DS) - Do you like RPG's? Do you love your DS? Well if you pick up this game you should be able to spend a lot of time with your sleek and sexy gaming system. Atlus always does a great job with their RPGs so I am going to give Etrian Odyssey the nod for Game of the Week.

Well I am actually salivating a little over Etrian Odyssey and even Atlus' release for next week Odin Sphere. I think both of those games should be good titles to pick up and play. This week there was a pretty good blend between new and old games, which the average fan should be happy about. I do recommend picking up the Marvel Ultimate Alliance game as well, since I enjoyed it quite a bit on the PSP and PC. Anyways before I just ramble on and on, this is Captain Gordon signing off.
