Recently, we've had a lot of readers write in asking us what games do we play in our free time. So, we thought we'd compile a list, and let you all read over it. We tried not to include games that we're having to review, as reviews are not apart of our free time. But, there is the occasional game we have to review that we just don't want to put down.
What James is playing:
Oh for the days of long ago when Sonic blazed through 2D levels on the Genesis. They're finally back due to the renaissance that is the Game Boy Advance. Sonic speeds through beautiful worlds that just bring back all sorts of great memories. This is the first game to dethrone SUPER MARIO WORLD as my GBA game of choice.
SUPER MARIO WORLD - MARIO ADVANCE 2
I'm still working on clearing 100% of the game. It is, in someways, the counterpart to my SONIC ADVANCE cartridge, and both of them are usually right next to my wallet in terms of things I grab on my way out the door in the morning. With all of the down time in life, I have been constantly showing my nerdiness by whipping out Mario for a quick game.
DRAKAN: THE ANCIENT'S GATES
Ok, while this is a title that I'm reviewing and we aren't supposed to include those, I've been really surprised by how much I like the game. I'm not too deep into it yet, but its really grown on me and I expect it to end up with a pretty good score. Its definitely worth trying out if you haven't already.
STATE OF EMERGENCY
I still have been coming back to this game just for the pure fun and joy that it brings. Its too much fun to be in the center of a crowd with an AK-47. Its deviant, but I love it. My review is done and we should have it posted soon (famous last words).
Games being reviewed: DRAKAN, WORLD TOUR SOCCER, PIRATES, ESPN INTERNATIONAL WINTER SPORTS 2002 (GC), SONIC ADVENTURE 2: BATTLE, PUYO POP.
What Troy is playing:
COMMAND AND CONQUER RENEGADE
No surprise here. COMMAND AND CONQUER RENEGADE is one of the coolest first-person shooters I've ever played. RENEGADE combines the best aspects of the RTS game, and mixes them into a first-person shooter to form a candidate for best game of 2002, and we're only in March. If you haven't picked up RENEGADE, I suggest you do.
The sequel to my favorite Dreamcast game, SHENMUE II continues the story of Ryo Hazuki and his quest to avenge his father's death, this time in Hong Kong. I've been sucked into the world of SHENMUE once again, and I can't leave until I finish the game. Never have I played games and felt like I was actually inside of the game, as the main character. SHENMUE II keeps the Dreamcast alive in my heart. It'll be out for the Xbox this fall, but if you can't wait, import.
I love Sonic. I can almost say I love Sonic more than Mario. While I played Mario as a kid, Sonic was my favorite series growing up, as I had a Sega Genesis instead of a Super Nintendo. So, when I first played SONIC ADVANCE, I was thrown for a loop and into the past. I can barely put this game down. While 3D platformers are fun, Sonic belongs in a 2D side-scrolling game. It's a must have for Game Boy Advance owners.
DARK AGE OF CAMELOT
I just recently started playing this game again. In my opinion, DARK AGE OF CAMELOT is the best online RPG out there. If you begin playing, be sure to join a guild with some friends, as this brings the most fun out of DARK AGE OF CAMELOT. While I haven't been able to play this game as much as I want because of a busy work schedule, when I do have time, I know I'm going to have fun exploring and killing. It's a great game if you have the cash and the computer to handle the game requirements.
Games being reviewed: NHL 2K2, PETER PAN IN RETURN TO NEVER LAND, SONIC ADVANCE, DARK SUMMIT (GC), NBA 2K2 (Xbox).
