Spanning four years, the Garden of sinners introduce us to a conflicted young woman who has a murderer in her, a young man that loves her, a magus who thinks she can use both of them and another magus who wants to reset the world. The seven features move back and forth in time to tell a complicated, haunting and beautiful tale of people trying to discover exactly what it is that they want out of life and even if they can have a life with the burdens they're saddled with.

What They Say
After spending two years in a coma due to a traffic accident, Shiki Ryougi awakens with amnesia. In turn, however, she finds that she has also obtained the "Mystic Eyes of Death Perception," with which she can see the invisible lines of mortality that hold every living and non-living thing together. Working for a small independent agency, Shiki attempts to unravel the baffling mystery behind a series of abnormal, horrifying incidents, but do they foreshadow something even more tragic and ominous?

Things are not what they appear to be on the surface, but what dark revelations lie underneath? Shiki must tackle supernatural incidents with her special abilities while searching for a reason to live.

In Summary:
I had gone into this series of films with no real expectations but had some hesitation over it because I've had such varied luck with Type-Moon shows before and still look at Tsukihime as a show that I wanted to enjoy but wasn't able to overall. With the Garden of sinners, we can see full out exactly just how powerfully moving they can be in creating something with such beautiful visuals that become such an intricate part of the story itself. There's so many aspects to this series that unfold in the look of it all and the backgrounds in relation to the mood that for that reason alone it's entirely worth several repeat viewings. When you add in the story that's made wonderfully complicated because of how it goes back and forth and introduces several key flashbacks at times that suddenly let the pieces of the puzzle click and it becomes incredibly re-watchable. There are few shows that really grab me as much as this one did and certainly not across seven features that have a combined run time of just under nine hours. This is a brilliant piece of work that looks absolutely stunning here and is very powerful with its soundtrack. There are very few shows that I truly walk away from and say are a "must see" property, but the Garden of sinners is just that.
