Gary Oldman Deals with RAIN FALL

Thespian Gary Oldman is in negotiations to join the cast of the new Japan-based thriller Rain Fall,  reports Variety. The actor will be joining fellow cast members Shiina Kippei (Shinobi) and Akiho Hasegawa. Japanese Satoru Iseki (The Emperor and the Assassin) produces through his Tara Contents and a special purpose vehicle with backing from Sony Pictures Entertainment Japan and other equity investors.

Plot Concept:
Adapted from a novel by best-selling American author Barry Eisler, the film is the story of a hit man who is forced to protect the daughter of one of his victims against assassination by the CIA.

Holy s***, I didn't know this movie had any cast...and next thing I hear, Gary frikkin' Oldman is in it. I'm glad to see some actual Japanese actors up there. The main character is half Japanese, half American...and they were apparantly talking to John Cusack and Keanu Reeves for the role.

I'm a big fan of the John Rain novels, so this is great news for me. These books could make some great films. It's likely Oldman will be playing the villain, so, yeah it does seem to be getting a "Leon" vibe to it.

I think it's also worth mentioning that the movie will be told with mostly Japanese dialogue, and only about 15% English. I'm getting more and more pumped by the second for this movie.
