Downey signs for THE AVENGERS - Oct 29, 2008 - 12:47am
Havent Been her for a while guys, got a new job and can't surf the net like I used to, and my best frien and greatest dog I'll ever know just passed. BUT this is indeed great news! Gotta keep momentum on The Incredible Hulk going, A FAR SUPERIOR film than the travesty that was the first. Yes I know that some of you liked it, but it was awful, and the majority of people including Hard core Hulk fans agree!!
AVENGERS ASSEMBLE!!!
Another SPIDEY girlfriend in doubt? - Oct 20, 2008 - 11:33pm
PUH-LEASE!
She's a leading lady in what 1 film thats not even out yet, sure it's Kevin Smith, but C'MON!!!
Betty is important to the movies, even though she's a bit part, and that girl, whatever her name is, plays her well. She'll come back as soon as she gets the call, besides the extra-ordinary cast and crew she'd be working with, she'll need a paycheck by then.
WATCHMEN roundup - Oct 19, 2008 - 05:31pm
I AM PIISSED OFF!!!!
I had no idea there was a screening in Portland, until I heard people talking about it on the radio the next day. I would have called in sick to work to sit in front of the theater all day to see this. DAMMIT!!!!
SPEED RACER airing on J:Com - Oct 11, 2008 - 04:17pm
totally agree with you herbyneo
Just saw it on a plane and wished I'd went to the theaters to see it. It was actually really well done.
Watching the WATCHMEN - Oct 09, 2008 - 11:03pm
Hobbs, Youre wrong...DEAD WRONG
Chris read it, great book, great story, and great art. Truly one of the great stepping stones of comics from kids books, to respected storytelling medium.

Fox chief talks DAREDEVIL reboot - Oct 07, 2008 - 11:22am
Because Savage Henry, Re-boot implies starting over, I can't read an origin story over and over again. I have no problem with new artist 9writers, pencillers, actors, or directors) changing, BUT when they re-make the same story over and over that sucks.
also scyth, I have 420 in my name, why you hurt me like that?
A better look at the KICK-ASS costume - Oct 07, 2008 - 11:18am
I love the Kick-Ass comic.
Still think it's weird that it's probably further along as a movie than as a comic. At what point will people complain that the comic is not enough like the source material, because at this rate the movie could be done before the climax of the comic.
Fox chief talks DAREDEVIL reboot - Oct 06, 2008 - 04:00pm
NO Re-BOOT! Re-Boot this is just the new craze, and THIS MOVIE DON"T NEED TO BE RE-MADE!!!!
It was good, and we just need a sequel. Afflect wasn't even terrible in the role. Bring on a sequel NO RE-MAKE!!!!!!
Fox chief talks DAREDEVIL reboot - Oct 06, 2008 - 10:34am
ENOUGH WITH THE GODDAMN REBOOT ALREADY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Daredevil was good (not great) but good, and it doesn't need to be re-made, thats right re-boot is just a buzz word that is the same as RE-MAKE!
ENOUGH ALREADY!!!!!
Was it perfect?...NO, but it was better than Spiderman 3, just pick up with the "Born Again", it's easily one of the best, where Kingpin destroys Murdoch's life, kills his girl, and JUST NO MORE UN-NEEDED GODDAMN RE-BOOT!!!!!
Studios Bidding for Mark Millar's WAR HEROES - Sep 19, 2008 - 10:17am
Wiseguy you’re being very unwise. Mark Millar doesn’t need to ( and I don’t think has previously) use(d) gimmicks to sell his work. His writing is above average, and I WAS blown away by this book. My only complaint would be that it was too short. But then thats one of the signs of a good story , leaves you wanting more. Mark Millar was simply speaking from his heart on the kind of direction he would have taken Ultyimates 3. AND THANK GOD ALL MIGHTY he is returning to a universe he helped establish so brilliantly!!!!!
Ultimates dies the day Millar left them, ULTIMATES 3 is dead to me, read 1 page and threw up all over it so I couldn’t finish reading it.
War Heroes is awesome, so far, 1 ish in, and I love kick -ass, hell the other week I left with 6 comics in my clutches and they were all written by Millar.
I do think it’s crazy that his work is optioning so quickly, but there are way WAAAAY worse comic writers out there getting their work optioned for TV and Movies , and they suck. So I guess it makes sense the Alan Moore of our day (without the tude) is selling like hot cakes.
THE THING Follow-Up is a Prequel? - Sep 17, 2008 - 03:16pm
Love The Thing, hadn’t watched it in years until I came across this video on youtube, Thing fans GOTTA check this out, you die hards probably already saw it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3o2QW2kzwDc
I’m on the fence for this one, I think a prequel would kinda be like a re-make, I mean the thing trapped in the tundra with a bunch of scientist.
Usually I’m against re-makes, but a re-make of this might be cool, unecessary ? YES, but still might be cool.
Is Maguire a $50 Million Man? - Sep 16, 2008 - 12:23pm
Silversurfer,
Transformers were blowing up?! Was Starscream there? HE OWNS SON!!!
JK, glad you and your's are ok.
Seriously my thought go out to everyone devastated by the storm.
On a side note, I'm also glad I'm not the only one who enjoyed Spiderman3, Like I said it wasn't award winning caliber like the first two, but it was still damn good, there a couple of places I go to check out the news on Mania, but I just watched it on my friends HD projection tv this weekend, FRIGGIN good movie, SOOOOO STOKED Maguire and Raimi are coming back!
Is Maguire a $50 Million Man? - Sep 16, 2008 - 10:48am
Good for Tobey, He IS Peter Parker.
The third one was less than stellar, but hopefully studio execs realized their mistakes, and will let Raimi handle the next two on his own.
As for Longoria as Wasp, she hot I'd love it, but if they go ultimates route Wasp is Asian, not that it matters, I think they can change ethnicities f charactrs as long as they stay true to the character.
Giant Robot Confirmed for TRANSFORMERS 2 - Sep 11, 2008 - 12:52am
Love me some transformers, just started re-watching season 1. How can anyone complain thAT the movie didn't remain faithful, and got silly, HAVE YA"LL ACTUALLY WATCHED THOSE EPISODES LATELY?!
Starscream OWNS 2009! ....SON!
Arnold Schwarzenegger Caught Meeting Christian Bale - Sep 11, 2008 - 12:50am
They could have Arnold as a Scientist that helps create the Terminators, hence they look like him, UNTIL his wife gets frozen and he gets into uber gay mode (not that there is anything wrong with gay, just an expression) freezez the city and the franchise, and Bale (john conner) has to become future terminator batman to kick his ass back to his banrupt state of Cali!
WORD!
DARK KNIGHT Hitting Theaters Again in January - Sep 11, 2008 - 12:46am
Shit Yeah! I figure by Jan. I'll be ready to watch it on the big screen again (saw it a measly 3 times in reg. theaters). I haven't made it to the local IMAX yet, so I'll be goin' in Jan!
BTW in case you can't tell I respectfully disagree with archrayne666.
Director and Script Ready for GREATEST AMERICAN HERO - Sep 10, 2008 - 10:20pm
I used to love this show as a kid, I would play superheroes with my friends, and I would opt out of being Supes or Batman, to be The Greatest American Hero. I always had the best time crashing when I landed.
I will def shell out some $$$ to go see this. Seth Rogen should opt out of Green hornet for this role.
Hoffman Responds to Riddler Rumors - Sep 10, 2008 - 08:43pm
Who the F is Hoffman? Of course he'll do it as soon as he's asked, he's just gotta downplay it so he can ask for a bigger paycheck.
Will Smith is the New CAPTAIN AMERICA? - Sep 09, 2008 - 04:38pm
BTW Hanso, I like DiCaprio for the rolem. He'll need to roid up a bit though.
ALSO ENJOY SINESTRO WARS, SINESTRO OWNS SON!!!!!
Will Smith is the New CAPTAIN AMERICA? - Sep 09, 2008 - 04:35pm
Yo ricosuave,
Nick Fury IS black in the comics. The Ultimate Universe’s Nick Fury has been black since 2003, at least. AND it is a big deal to mess with Cap’s story and identity , but to turn some characters from white to Black, or to Asian, is just not a big deal. unless it’s an ICON, the (hell sometimes even if it is an ICON) the ethnicity DOES NOT MATTER. Sure there would be an uproar if Cap, or Supes, or Batman was black, but would it change them ? maybe...With Nick Fury ...Not so much, BUT with Cap t would, because his roots cannot be re-written into current day like Supes or Batman. His roots will always be in WWII when segregation and racism in America was popular, so nO It wouldn’t work for an icon like cap where almost 80% of American know who he is.
But for Nick Fury, who the Fuck cares what color he is. Samuel L is a kick ass Nick Fury, and probably 3% of Americans know who the F he is so no , he’s NOWHERE near the caliber of an Icon like Cap.
Just Like Kingpin, only Comic Geeks now who he is, I like him in Daredevil, and it actually made the movie somewhat more believable because it was more diverse lie real life.
Will Smith is the New CAPTAIN AMERICA? - Sep 08, 2008 - 11:06pm
GODDAMMIT!! WHAT A BUNCH OF FUCKING RACIST AROUND HERE!
A BLACK MAN CAN BE PRES-O-DENT, but CAN'T BE CAPTAIN AMERICA?!!
no Just kidding, I love Will smith, but no way should he play Cap, any more than he should play Supes, and he's smart enough to know it, NOW on the other hand he'd be a hell of an amalgamation between John Stewart, and Kyle Rayner, heh am I right or am I right, Right? Right?
Ramis Updates On GHOSTBUSTERS 3 - Sep 08, 2008 - 11:35am
YYYYYYYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
F-ing A, GHOSTBUSTERS SSSSAAAAWWWWEEEEEEETTTTT!!!!!
Vince Clortho would be pleased!
Here's Murrays negotiating "No job is too big, No FEE is too big"
CAN'T WAIT FOR THIS!!!!!
GHOSTBUSTERS Getting a Call From Sony - Sep 06, 2008 - 01:25pm
Sony, my friend, go back and show me where I have said Transformers was my all time fav. movie...
THEN go to my profile (which has not been changed since I registered on Mania, and you'll see my fav movie of all time is indeed Ghostbusters.
take that ;)
Maguire and Raimi Signed for SPIDER-MAN 4? - Sep 06, 2008 - 01:23pm
NO REBOOT!NO REBOOT!NO REBOOT!NO REBOOT!NO REBOOT!NO REBOOT!NO REBOOT!

NO REBOOT!NO REBOOT!NO REBOOT!NO REBOOT!NO REBOOT!NO REBOOT!NO REBOOT!NO REBOOT!
the call for Re-booting is out of control. The first 2 were awesome, the third not so much, but that doesn't call for a re-boot.
I am STOKED that Raimi, and Maguire will be back, this is good news indeed.

SWWWWWEEEEEEET!!
My fav movie of all time.
Gotta have Venkman in it GOTTA!!, and I've heard Murray won't do it, but maybe he wll if they pay him enough, or maybe that jump from the airplane got him to wanna do one last ride in Ecto-1
CAN'T WAIT, Love it, I always liked the idea of passing the reins to a new bunch of GhostBusters....LIKE ME, or Ben Stiller and those Judd Apatow guys. I think they are very funny, and talented, and could do justice for the originals, of course the original four would have to help save the world at the end.
"NOBODY steps on a church in MY TOWN..."
Toy Maniac: The Farscape Folly - Sep 04, 2008 - 04:49pm
Farscape was awesome, great stories, great characters...
LOVE IT!!!
Columbia and Marvel Considering GHOST RIDER 2? - Sep 04, 2008 - 10:29am
ave t start with , I'm not a HUGE Ghostrider fan. I'm a fan, but not a diehard.
Second , I liked it, it was everything I remember from reading GR, 10 years ago, but still I used to buy it, and I really like the movie, I watch it from time to time, and would definitely sit through another one.
guess I'll be in the theater alone huh?
Aaron Eckhart Confirms Two-Face's Fate - Sep 03, 2008 - 10:37pm
Disavowed, I'm with you. Harvey is DEAD, LONG LIVE Two-Face! He's alive and hidden in Arkham
If two face doesn't come back that'll suck. Nolans such a HACK!!
Just kidding, I like the world of Gotham Nolan is creating. I hope Two-Face returns for a bit, but if not I trust Nolan Bros. to keep us captivated by another villain.
I think Nolan has Batman down pat, The Nolan Universe Batman would definetly go after Rachel, he was trying to ditch the whole mask for the whole movie.
He's not the DC Earth 1 Batman, he's the DCU Movie universe Batman.
Mark Millar Wants SUPERMAN Trilogy - Sep 03, 2008 - 01:29pm
On a 10 pt scale a 67 is a D.
A=100-91
B=90-81
C=80-71
D=70-61
F=60-0
thats how it was in College, but in Elementary through High school, my county went on the 6 point scale so it was...
A=100-94
B=93-88
C=87-81
D=80-74
E=73-0
yeah they also used E's instead of F's
stupid school, 6 point scale sucks
Mark Millar Wants SUPERMAN Trilogy - Sep 03, 2008 - 12:08pm
LOL...I don't always cream my jeans...sometimes I wear khakis.
6.7 seems like a majority, am I right? right...right, right
Mark Millar Wants SUPERMAN Trilogy - Sep 03, 2008 - 11:08am
I’m with Jarrod, I love SR. AND I am a Superman Fan been buying Superman comics monthly since ‘92 unlike many of the loud hater voices that wanna bash SR without having picked up a Superman comic for 15 years.
Thats right I say the majority f people enjoyed and liked SR, Jarrod lets do a geek poll, However when I say majority I mean non geek trolling websites, that means besides just us on Mania.
JARROD put up a poll, c’mon...
Sorry Hanso,my friend, just really liked the continuation of Donner’s films. I look at it like both a remake and an homage to the original films, without having to re-tell the origin.
Also I forget who said it, because it sounded like an asshat comment, but X-1 Was friggin awesome. PERHAPS there have been better superhero team movies since then, but it set the bar, and everybody was creaming their jeans over X-1 in 2000, I still do.
I vote Singer + Millar= BRILLIANT! for the Man of Steel.
for the haters out there, (derahk, afwick) don’t be jealous of others successful talented people. Hell I wanna be successful, but I ain’t jealous because Millar writes fuck into all of his books. Millar is a great writer, I read any comic he writes, and am never disappointed. Sorry you live too far in the past to enjoy anything new.
Wanted was a pretty cool comic, and not just because of T&A, perhaps you should read the words as well as looking at the pictures.
New Set Videos Online for TRANSFORMERS 2 - Aug 29, 2008 - 04:04pm
Not only will I like it, I'LL LOVE IT!!
I have no problem disassociating my inner 5 year old self, with the inner me that like s to see robots turn into cars.
Besides what else can I ask for from a 30 min animated toy commercial adapted into a 2hr long commercial.
I still love it,
AND
How do you know how long Blackout was in flight till he landed, and even if it was only 30 min, in an area like that (flat) the sunlight disappears quickly. there is plenty of light at dusk but when the sun goes over the horizon darkness quickly follows.
just an observation.
I love the look of the movie style Transformers.
If I wanna see G1 looking transformers I put in some DVD's
New Set Videos Online for TRANSFORMERS 2 - Aug 29, 2008 - 12:44pm
Sanity- The last thing YOU would imagine them is what they look like, but like I said they went with an original concept, something that most people say they want, but are truly not ready for.
These TF are very real world, and they are made of armor, they aren't made of fiberglass and steel they are made from some super strong material, so armor in implied in their very exoskeleton.
REMEMBER when the army was shooting Blackout, and they didn't make a scratch, and it took a huge amount of firepower to even damage scorpinox? remember? theres your armor.
I mean HELL it's the same as watching beast wars, a new imaginative version of our favorite characters.
AND I can see plenty of the motorcycle parts, the mirrors, the AHEM HEADLIGHTS, and as for tires, the Transformers tires are an illusion. If you watched them transform in the movie you'll seee the tires on Optimus Prime come apart and are made up of components to fit in elsewhere as armor perhaps?
just let your preconceptions go, they are still cool robots that transform into cool vehicles. At it's heart thats what Transformers is about, and selling toys.
New Set Videos Online for TRANSFORMERS 2 - Aug 29, 2008 - 10:58am
so I ‘ve always been a fan , tand they were always real to me too. Got my first one at age 7 on Oct. 26th. His name was Soundwave...I cried when I dropped him and he broke...It started a lifetime love affair with ...well this is going somewhere else,
ANYway That was a cool video Dazzler, but it definitely didn’t look as rooted in the “real world” as the Movie versionss do. I never questioned the coolness of the classic look of the TF in the movies, but I do really enjoy the ORIGINAL ( everyone bitches there is no originality until it is applied to something then they hate on it) look and feel of the movie Transformers.
You see When I go to see a movie adaptation I do my best to keep the source material and movie adaptation in separate universes. I dod want the basic characteristics of the um characters to remain, but the way something looks, or little details about stories can change, as long as the characters personalities stay true to what they would do if they were placed in that situation. Movie adaptations are like elseworlds.
Again Dazzle thats a super cool video, but I prefer the movie look tranformers for well the movies. That would have been a little like watching an animated movie, I want a real world TF movie. (lik ethe one we got) I like the originality in them. This is like bitching about the batpod or the look of Batmans costume. It doesn’t atter as long as the character is there.
ILM definitely looked at going the classic look route, heres a few screen test you probably all have seen,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qDA-66KnyPo
http://www.boreme.com/boreme/funny-2006/transformer-truck-p1.php
but I like the movie versions, whats wrong with an original concept on an old classic?
New Set Videos Online for TRANSFORMERS 2 - Aug 28, 2008 - 07:07pm
SONY!!

been wonderin' where you been.
love them pigformers...clitbot IS PRICELESS!!! LOL
New Set Videos Online for TRANSFORMERS 2 - Aug 28, 2008 - 01:47pm
Transformers KICKED ASS!!!
Michael Bay can make an action blockbuster like no other!
Can't wait for the sequel, glad Arcee is making an apearance.
Sorry to all of you who wants them to look like cubes, and boxes, Like TDK and Batman Begins, Transformers is rooted in more of a "real" world, HENCE the Transformers in robot mode are made of actual parts of the vehicles.
not rocket science
Comicscape: Warner Bros. Takes DC to the Movies - Aug 27, 2008 - 09:42pm
WHYYYYYYYYY!!!???
Hanso, I knew this day would come...The day of the Superman Returns threads....
This is like civil war...brother against brother...Cap against Iron Man....
"Say it ain't so Joe(y baloney), Say it ain't so..."
I really liked SR hate to see WB F up what could be a cool franchise... Dark means Dark, I hope you're right Hanso, but from what I usually see from H-WOOD F-Sticks they will make it a clone of TDK...
I don't wanna dark Superman, I want a hero that inspires and shows all that is good in the world...You wanna dark Superman, read Sentry, a very cool DARK take on Superman...
Anyway I hope this doesn't turn out bad, and wasn't 300 a Dark Horse property?
HHHHHHAAAAANNNNSSSSOOOOOOOO WWWWHHHHHHYYYYYYY
dammit, the SR threads
anyway I'll go see ti no matter what, but darker don't equall better, Iron Man wasn't "dark" and it did Gangbusters don't cookie cutter your properties WB
BTW where Sony been hidin'?
Comicscape: Warner Bros. Takes DC to the Movies - Aug 27, 2008 - 11:27am
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!
S MY D, WB!!!
WB You and your bigwigs did not make TDK a success. NOLAN did.
KEEP YOUR FAT FUCKING PIG FINGERS OUT OF SUPERHERO MOVIE DEVELOPEMENTS, you F-ing xerox movie copying pricks.
(ok, indoor voice)
NO DARK SUPERMAN, I loved SR I wanna see what happens, AND so do lots of others, (more than don't I would suggest)
Kurt great article, I like your take on this subject.
WB Decides to Reboot Darker SUPERMAN - Aug 22, 2008 - 08:09pm
Hanso, NEVER FORGET, you my boy son!
BUT I know you were in favor of remakes the other day with the poltergiest news, so why the hard on for busting singers balls with the "remake" of Superman?
not hatin' Just askin'
WB Decides to Reboot Darker SUPERMAN - Aug 22, 2008 - 04:25pm
Let me preface that While I'm not entirely against a urrgh, "re-boot"i just threw up in my mouth a little. I do think it's a bit hasty. To reboot a movie 2 years after it came out is jumping the Gun and I think Singer should be allowed to flesh out what he had planned for the sequel.
Anyway heres my bitter, and angry post from the other thread, by poular demand.
FLAME ON!
Just read on Superhero Hype that WB is in fact re-booting Superman, and making him “darker” (what does that mean? African...I KID!)
Anyway this SUCKS DONKEYS ASS They are stupid studio execs that see something work for one character (Batman) but FAIL to realize WHY that worked for that character. Batman is a guilt driven angs ridden character. HE IS DAK.
SUPERMAN IS NOT. like so many others pointed out here, Supes is the shining white knight of all superheroes. Please WB lets not put him into the cookie cutter, so teenage boys will wear their all black clothes to see another brooding superhero.
As for Arby’s point of view...Well everyone who wants a dark brooding Superman , thank people like Arby (who OBVIOUSLY doesn’t read, or even like Superman comics)
Arby. his costume was ORIGINAL back in the day, and if it looks stupid to you , TOO BAD, it is the colors of his Kryptonian heritage, and the design was created by Martha Kent (as far as I remember ) and thats THAT. back in the 40’s there wasn’t 10,0000 carbon copies running around wearing tights and capes with shorts on the outside , so that made him standout. FUCK your costume changes. His costume is ICONIC, and they’d best leave it alone. If you don’t like it then the Superman Mythos is NOT for you.
Clarks nerdy persona is to cover up the fact that his only disguise is a pair of glasses, and it’s a very nice juxtaposition (look it up) for Superman. Correction His nerdyness IS his mask.
ALL YOU FUCKERS THAT WANT TO CHANGE THE ESSENCE OF SUPERMAN - READ A FRIGGIN ACTION COMIC FOR FUCKS SAKE!!!!
If you want dark, rad Wanted, or Punisher, or BAtman. JEEBUS HELP ME.
Y’know I never realize how much I love Superman , until everyone wants to change him into batman,
Bruce Wayne is NOT mild Mannered, neither was Picard, look up mild mannered. Wayne is a Playboy, with a lot of confidence and a cavalier attitude, Picard was a hearty and strong leader, NEITHER was MILD sure they didn’t run around half cocked all the time, but they were not GENTLE, as mild suggest.
And vertical flight, big freakin deal some supers fly horizontally and some fly vertically, why do they all have to do it YOUR way. JEEBUS, everyone in this world today wants everything THEIR way. Maybe it has to do with how he propels himself, and it most definitely would take MORE energy to fly at super sonic speeds standing up because of wind resistance (simple aero dynamics as someone here suggested, but of course as you’ve stated you’re very close minded and won’t accept anyones point of views but your own.
LEAVE THE COSTUME ALONE, leave his GODDAMN personality ALONE, and if you wanna see vertical flight Watch a different superhero fly, Magneto, Mr. Miracle
And for the love of god, anyone that wants to say how a Superman movie SHOULD be, READ SOME FUCKING SUPERMAN COMICS
In summation , YOU want dark and brooding, go watch TDK, Wolverine, or The Punisher NOT SUPERMAN!!!
One more thing Look what happened to Spiderman when some ignorant studio execs decided he needed to be darker and more brooding. They fucked up a light hearted character, MARK MY WORDS, They will fuck up Superman worse than any of you can possibly imagine.
Hope I'm wrong...but I'm not
WB Decides to Reboot Darker SUPERMAN - Aug 22, 2008 - 03:59pm
F THIS SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lets make super-Batman. Heres the executive meeting "Hey TDK made a shit ton of Cash" "Let's make another one exactly the same but put Superman in Place of Batman"
"Brilliant"
FFFFFFF THIS SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wrote a long crybaby post on the other thread about this assinine decision by the unimaginative FUCKS at WB. If needed I'll re post it here.
HATE THIS

nrollins PREACH IT BROTHA'
Geoff Johns is kickin' ass on Action Comics right now, but he's not alone, ROCK SOLID Gary Frank is lighting pages on FIRE with his art, and interpretations of Supes!!!
SR was a fantastic re-introduction into the mythos of Superman, and it was needed. There are THOUSANDS if not MIllions (ok so I'm being dramatic) of youngsters out there that won't go near a movie made before 1994, so they'll never know the majesty of Donner's Superman.
Singer gave it to them and set the stage for the next chapter at the same time.
Some of you who are SR haters are my boy's so I'm not gonna flame , BUT I do remember some of ya'll saying remakes aren't necessarily a bad thin g on the poltergiest forum.
Well SR IMHO was a Remake/relaunch/homage flick.
The Manic Maniac: Superman vs. Everybody - Aug 21, 2008 - 10:39am
I love SR , Was it perfect? NO, was it a highly entertaining re-introduction to the greatest one of them all, YES
I like singers pacing, and I can even live with the super brat. I mean c'mon, look at all the crap DC has done to him over the years. I think SR had a darker tone than the previous films, while retaining the character. I still put it in on a rainy night and love it.
KICK ASS Begins Production in Three Weeks - Aug 21, 2008 - 10:36am
Kick ASS Kicks ASS!!!
I still can't believe they are gonna make a film outta this after 3 issues. It does have a pretty big undergrround movement behind it though, and Millars last adaptation, Wanted, was succesful (I think, I liked it anyway)
Writers Begin Scripting POLTERGEIST Remake - Aug 20, 2008 - 11:55am
NNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!
Stop the insanity, chalk another one up to the dumbing down of america. Whats wrong with watching a old movie (Which Poltergeists doesn't even qualify as) SUCKS, This movie will not receive any of my dollars in it's profit margin.

I see some of your points, but I kkep Movie universes and comic universes seperate to prevent migranes.

WB and DC Executives Talk Comic Properties - Aug 19, 2008 - 03:38pm
Wiseguy,
YOU BEING A WISEGUY;)?
I said IDENTITY Crisis, not Final Crisis. (I tend to steer clear of crossovers, I read the main books but not all the other titles, unless they are already on my list)
anyway like I said I like both companies, they have hits and misses. I didn't read Superman son storyline, but there have been at least 3 awestom story arcs in Acton in the last year.
The Bizzaro story arc, The leigion of Superheroes Story arc, and the current Brainiac story arc.
Any way this is a debate for the ages, but I think the big two companies are equall, with both movies and comics.
they ebb and flow, have hits, and misses.
WB and DC Executives Talk Comic Properties - Aug 19, 2008 - 10:40am
I see you points, and I used to be an almost exclusive Marvel, BUT, I started learning more about the DCU and recently they have brought in some Killer writers. REALISM?! Brand New DAY, thats just one example, but C'MON!Some of Marvel has a realistic feel,
Try Identity Crisis, It's genius.
Batman is okay,(can't read it right now, just not feeling it)
But there are several DC comics that really are kicking ass right now. GL, Action Comics, All Star Supes, Justice Society.
I LIKE BOTH DC, AND MARVEL. Always have, always will.
BTW, Batman is not the best DC comic right now JMHO, AND
realsim in DC or Marvel is a rediculous notion. again JMHO

WB and DC Executives Talk Comic Properties - Aug 18, 2008 - 12:11pm
There is nothing wrong with DC comics. A lot of them are head and shoulders above the drivel Marvel is churning out.
I hate blanket statements like "DC comics are crap"
That just shows you don't read them. AND there are plenty of better titles than Batman from DC.
I wonder how many of you who bitch about the comics actually read and buy them , because I know over in the comicscape forum there are always like 3 people who post.
AnYWAY, DC has many great titles, just because you don't like them doesn't mean they suck.
Hell The only X title I've been able to stomach over the last 5 years was the Grant Morrison run that turned into The Joss Whedon run. AND now I may not be able to read it anymore.
Look at New Frontier or the JLU series great stories great characters, you just gotta take the time to learn about them.
Some McLovin in Store for Vaughn's KICK ASS - Aug 15, 2008 - 10:51am
Kick ASS is KICK ASS!!!
I am waiting for issue 4
Mark Millar makes up about 80% of what I buy from the comic shops every Wed. I do think it's amazing to be starting production on a comic that hasn't even hit issue 4 yet.
BUT I'm all for it, KICK ASS!!
Wanted was cool for a movie very loosley based on the Comic, and 1985 is really good, It's a slow burn, but issue 3 has me hooked, ah hell issue 1 had me hooked.
AND best of all is the Super Soldier book, he's doing right now with Tony Harris. I can't remember the name right now, but it OWNS comics SON!!!
Comicscape: Waiting for the Trade: What Will Happen to Monthly Comics? - Aug 13, 2008 - 10:23am
Monthlies aren't going anywhere. PERIOD
I remember back in the 90's people were saying the medium is dying, THEN when internet comics started, it was "comics are finished"
They're still here, and they always will be . They are as entrenched in our society and culture as TV, and Movies. Sequential art has been around LONG before men in tights and caes started flying around, and they'll stand the test of time, because of the durability, and lets face it, If some technological dark age happens, printing presses will still work, and guys who like to tell stories integrating visual art, and words will be making periodicals.
I look forward to every Wednesday, so I can go plunk down my 25 bucks to get the latest installment of whatever I'm reading. I don't buy specific titles anymore like I did when I was 16. Instead I follow quality creators to whichever book(s) they are working on.
Thats aid I do like trades. It's not always possible to find, or afford the comics that I missed and want to read, so I buy the trades.
It's an interesting side note however, that I cannot buy the monthly installments of Walking Dead (the finest comic on the shelves IMHO)
I cannot read just one at a time. It's hard enough to read the trade (I fly through it in about 15 min) I need a constant flow of WD, and need to read 6 issues at a time, so on that title I patiently wait every 6 months for the next volume to be released.
god I love that book.
And Kirkman is a really nice guy (in addition to being extremely talented).

The Manic Maniac: R.I.P. Watchmen? - Aug 07, 2008 - 02:58pm
You guys wanna know the ending???
IT WAS HIS SLED!!
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!
The Manic Maniac: R.I.P. Watchmen? - Aug 07, 2008 - 12:47pm
these things don't ruin the movie for me. I must be in the minority in that I DON'T need Instant Gratification. I don't have cable, do't watch behind the scenes shows, haven't watched ONE of these production Blogs. I do look at photos and watch the Teaser trailer over and over, but I don't need to see all about the film, before I see it.
And I'm pretty sure I'm not alone, plenty of us don't "spoil" the movie by watching and reading every blog about it.
I also HATED the Cloverfield viral marketing, and the annoying Marketing is specifically what has kept me from seeing it. Still haven't wanted to watch Cloverbleh...
I do think this type of stuff should be available for those who choose to watch it, I just choose not to watch it.
DVD Shopping Bag: Mummy Mania - Aug 05, 2008 - 11:09am
I liked the Mummy and The Mummy 2. Good fun adventure movies, and Mummy's never scared me anyway. Seriously, show me a scary mummy, MAYBE the one from the Christian Slater story from the "Tales From The Darkside Movie", but the first 2 mummy movies, extremely fun, and they most definitely had the Flare of the Indiana Jones movies. Which wasn't a bad thing, since at that time we did not know we'd get another installment of Dr. Jones.
I can watch he first 2 mummy movies again and again, fun adventure movies.
Where the hell is the review of the Mummy 3 on this site?
Roger Avary Continues Forward in WOLFENSTEIN - Aug 05, 2008 - 10:56am
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it now, No good can come of this. I’ve only ever seen ONE decent movie made from a video game, Mortal Kombat.
The rest are unwatchable, ESPECIALLY Silent Hill, tried to watch it 3 times, cannot finish it, too boring. Visually appealing? eh, kinda, but it was just a bad movie. This sound ok, but I have serious doubts.
And as far as originality, been done. Nazi’s+ Supernatural, yeah I’ve seen it before in a little movie, and successful comic series you all might have heard of. HELLBOY
Mignola does Supernatural Nazi’s the best.
SDCC: First Look at Ghostbusters the Video Game - Aug 01, 2008 - 08:42pm
just though I'd throw this out there for any enthusiast who are jonesing for some new Ghostbusting action. There are a few fan films that are pretty good. NOT GREAT, but at least TV quality (maybe) and I've managed to sit through them both. They're not great but a cool romp if you're jonesing for some Ghostbusting. The rumors have been around for 3-4 years of a new movie installment. @ years ago Ben Stiller was rumored to be attached to a screenplay then Dan Ackroyd was saying there would be a CGI installment both of these were tenatively titled "Ghostbusters go to Hell"
But the rumor was Bill Murray wouldn't do it. Sux Venkman is my favorite.
Now there are many rumors that the Apatow gang might be up to the tsak with cameos from the original four handing over the franchise of Ghostbusting to new employees..
If they do it, I'M THERE!!!!!
"Busting makes me feel good"

Mania Exclusive Interview: Terminator: Salvation Director McG - Aug 01, 2008 - 11:29am
BTW Almost (i'm crossing threads here, from the venom thread)
I totally agree with you about Connelly being hotter, but BREAST REDUCTION SURGERY BLAH! she was hotter before she made her ta-ta's smaller.
Mania Exclusive Interview: Terminator: Salvation Director McG - Aug 01, 2008 - 11:17am
I don’t know Bales family but I do know, hmmmm My son (brother ) just made a billion dollars ( I heard his mom made a rude comment about Bale’s wife) so he pushed me outta the way, and I WANT MY SHARE.
Greed knows no boundaries. I’m pretty confident it wasn't the darkness of the Batman film that attributed to this verbal assault charge (BTW interesting how the press leaves off the verbal part when they report this) So mommy and sis want some of the pie. No surprise to me
Mania Exclusive Interview: Terminator: Salvation Director McG - Aug 01, 2008 - 11:00am
both Charlies Andels Movies were good, not great but good.
I mean for christ sake it was fucking Charlies Angels, remember the show people?
The movies were fun action packed films with hot chicks.
We are Marshall, great film, and it showed his range as a director.
(BTW it's HUGELY biased to judge someone based on half of their work)
So my favorite thing on this site is that if someone does one less than stellar thing they need to quit....hmmmm, glad my job isn't as superficial as the posters on this site. C'mon guys, SURE the guy has an annoying name (VERY ANNOYING) BUT he's made some good flicks, and shouldn't be judged by one bad movie.
He's obviously a hard worker , and judging by we are marshall he's learning.
Blue shark hmmmmm, thanks for the fact Hanso
SHARK WEEK OWNS SON!!!!
SDCC: First Look at Ghostbusters the Video Game - Aug 01, 2008 - 10:41am

SDCC: First Look at Hulk Vs. Wolverine - Jul 31, 2008 - 03:31pm
just you irascible ;)
I like it, think it looks great.
Hanso, I also (NOT AN ANIME FAN) loved Gotham Knight.
I don't buy into hype machines, except your grassroots TDK campign, so I wasn't dissapointed. I've read everyones comment on Gotham Knight, but I just really liked the new take on The old Hero.
Sony Moving Forward With VENOM - Jul 31, 2008 - 01:45pm
Spider-man 1&2 were both fantastic
Toby Maguire, is Peter Parker. Great casting!!!
And Maximuss after your seizure is over re-watch a couple of those movies, while I am the biggest Ang-Hulk hater on this site (maybe on the earth) Marvel has WAAAAy more hits than misses
DD was good, I liked it; Elektra- Hey I can watch a movie about a third teir Marvel character, as long as she is HOT!; The Incredible Hulk- AWESOME; Iron Man- Say no more; Ghost Rider- fun , good faithful adaption; Blade trilogy- sweet!!; Thomas Jane Punisher- not bad not great, but not bad; Spider-Man 1&2 AWESOME!!!!!; X-1 X-2 AWESOME!!!!!; Spidey 3, and X-3 ok, not as bad as everyone makes them out to be, (just go watch Batman and Robin or Superman-The Quest for Peace, if you wanna remember how bad a superhero movie can be.)
So all in all Marvel is doing pretty good with their movies.
ANG-Hulk Sucked, and The venom movie is probably not a great idea.
Comic Review: ASTONISHING X-MEN #25 - Jul 29, 2008 - 12:37pm
Astonishing X-Men 25 is a good read, and t had a tremendously hard act to follow. Astonishing X-men (formerly New X-men) was and is the only X-Men book I can stand to read. I’m a huge X-Fan from the 80’s, but most of the X-books have become un-readable to me.
I was not a huge Joss Whedon fan until Astonishing X-men, I hav e since started watching Firefly, and completely fell in love with it.
I am now a huge Whedon fan.
That said this was a good read, I like the feeling it conveys and it seems to remain faithful to the Astonishing roots, although I always enjoyed the sense that Astonishing took place outside of the 616 universe and was a standalone read. I don’t know how I’ll feel about it now that it is being established in the mainstream Marvel U.
The writing is solid, the dialouge has the feeling of Whedon’s run, BUT one of the thing that bothered me was brought up in this review.
I was always under the impression Wolverine could not get drunk due to his healing factor, and he most certainly wouldn’t be hung over.
That’s getting nit picky but I’m just sayin’
The art is nice, it’s not Cassaday, but it’s ok.
Muted is a bit of an Understatement, the art is IMHO too damn dark. Muted would be okay, but at times I’m almost struggling to make out the page. I’ don’t wanna see 4 color fantasy, but I think the art could be brighter, not more vibrant, just not so muddy.
all in all a good read, a book with a tough act to follow, I’ll tag along and hope it stays on my list of comics I look forward to every month.
Comicscape: Character Contrast in the Dark Knight - Jul 25, 2008 - 12:12am
I'll start a flame war, (or finish one)
equinox,
It is more than acceptable to not like the movie. HOWEVER to call it a bad movie is UN-TRUE, and asinine.
There are many movies that are made that are bad, but this is not one of them.
Again it is egotistical to say "this is a bad movie" but acceptable and true to say " I don't like the movie"
Try to remain objective, and not trying to be "cool"
I stand by my assessment that on my 10,000th viewing of this film, I will feel the same as I do about it today.
The Manic Maniac: Agents of Chaos, Agents of Change - Jul 24, 2008 - 04:09pm
Preach on Spiderhero, as long as you are preaching justice, truth , honesty and compassion, then I'm all for you.
I certainly am not a religious man, but I am very spiritual.
The Manic Maniac: Agents of Chaos, Agents of Change - Jul 24, 2008 - 02:07pm
the movie OWNS SON!!!!!!!
and to all of you with your agendas
YOU'RE ALL WRONG!!!
sorry but there are just WAY too many perspectives to peg it down to this is the right way that way is wrong.
Spiderhero, For Christians to start preaching about putting others first, tell that to the muslim world our Christian based society is terrorizing. (and yeah they struck back at us, they did not strike the first blow. Is it right of course not but don't try to justify what our Govnt. is doing now as reactionary, or the morrally right thing to do. It's just a continuation of the bullshit that has prevailed since the beginning of time.) Organized religion (all of them) are tools for the powerful to control the masses.
I believe in a god, or universal power, but do I believe in the Bull shit that is written by MEN in books that have been used as a way to control people and wage wars on others for centuries? HELL NO!
Jorson28, it's not about money, he specifically said WEALTH. There is a difference. Wealth includes the ability to have health care, and shelter, and security. It's not about Money, and you're extremely judgmental in your response.
Just because he is stating a fact , that the SUPREME MINORITY controls Almost ALL of the wealth in this world is a problem. Is socialism the answer, NO, but neither is abolishing the checks and balances that made it possible for the "American Dream " possible.
Without these systems to keep the powerful and wealthy in check, none of us stand a chance at building our own wealth.
THE DARK KNIGHT OWNS ALL SON!!!!!!, This is just a friggin Crime movie with guys in costumes. Lets not let your crazy right wing or left wing agendas cloud that fact.
even one of our founding fathers said (paraphrasing here) " A revolution every 200 yerars is essential to a good working democracy"
DARK KNIGHT Fastest to $200 Million - Jul 24, 2008 - 12:20pm
not to sound like a dick, BUT
It might be the best thing that could've happened for the new Batman franchise, that Ledger died.
It would be extremely difficult for him to top that performance (if he would have even wanted to)
so now The Nolan camp has to use their vast talents to look for a new solution, instead of going the easy route of having more Joker.
Necessity is the mother of invention. so now it is necessary for the Nolan Camp to come up with a creative solution to a truly difficult problem. I have faith they will rise to the challenge.
DARK KNIGHT Fastest to $200 Million - Jul 24, 2008 - 11:45am
Monkey foot, I was so totally getting readuy to unload on you.
You got me...
Even though I said I will not debate with the haters I will still make fun of their insecurities, and deepest fears.
Comicscape: Character Contrast in the Dark Knight - Jul 24, 2008 - 11:22am
Here he is everybody,
I knew there would be one, I just expected it to be metalwater, or that guy who hates on BSG, not Equinox,I don't believe I've ever read a post of yours.
It's ok if you didn't like TDK, but to try to say it was a bad movie is uncalled for.
IMHO I think there always has to be a few "cool" people that wanna be the ones to say "it wasn't that great" or "I heard of them first when they were cool"
TDK is, and will be one of the all time best adaptations of a comic to screen ever.
You just got done reading over 100 post from hardcore bat fanatics who would have been very harsh on the film if it had been un-true to the characters. As much as we loved it is not because we love the character so much that we would have loved a bad movie made of Batman.
Look at the way fanboys tear apart movies that slightly deviate from the source material.
So equinox, you and a handful of others can be cooler, than all of us geeks that love a hugely successful mainstream version of Bats.
I'll stick by my word, and say hanso got it right when he first stated (I never doubted you Hanso) TDK RULES SON!!!!!!
And I'll personally bet my soul and the soul of all of my family I will love TDK the 5th time I watch it, and the 100th time I watch it in 25 years with my grandchildren.
Comicscape: Character Contrast in the Dark Knight - Jul 23, 2008 - 02:59pm

It's so sweet to see everyone agreeing on something.
Look how TDK brought our little fam together.
Darkheart USE IT! OWN IT! , Just like WATCHMEN ARE GONNA OWN 2009, like TDK OWNS EVERYTHING.
God I think I'm gonna go see it again tonight.
TDK the Godfather ii of all comic movies

Box Office Update: KNIGHT Captures Box Office History for WB - Jul 21, 2008 - 09:13am
I loved Burtons Batman, (TDK IS BETTER) but for those fans out there that hound on the filmakers staying true to the source. NOLAN GOT IT RIGHT. Burton's was good, but the guy disrespected the source material several times.(ask me how I'll show you the light)
AND for anyone bitching about how it was a crime drama...HELLO can you say DETECTIVE COMICS (the title of Bats first appearance and his flagship title)...WORLDS GREATEST DETECTIVE.
NOT Superhero Comics, or worlds greatest superhero
sure he may be that. But he's a detective and crime fighter first
DVD Review of Superhero Movie Extended Edition - Jul 21, 2008 - 02:14am

I don't know, I just hope he's back.
Box Office Update: KNIGHT Captures Box Office History for WB - Jul 20, 2008 - 05:43pm
Wiseguy,
nothing wrong with being cool ;) TDK was still Perfect, you'll see, you always see...(eye shifting shadily)
I agree with hanso, I thought it was too short.
It would have been a mistake to bring up Big Bad Harv in this film, but I'm certain that in the next one we'll see some of Harvey Two-Face's conflicting past.
And the fact that The Joker manipulated him so easily, is a testament to how bad ass the Joker is.
One more thing that made this film great.
Just like in the comics the Joker re-invented his origin depending on who he was talking to and what mood he was in. SWEEEET!
Lets stop talking bout Spidey 3 . TDK doesn't deserve to have his name thrown in with the likes of that. I do agree with the bull shit that was f-ing with Uncle Ben's Death
Box Office Update: KNIGHT Captures Box Office History for WB - Jul 20, 2008 - 05:06pm
Raith,
You are 100% right about Venom.
Nolan shows how a villain for the next installment should be entered. Just barely, not as another major threat that gets wrapped up too easily in the last 15 min.
I REALLY liked that they introduced Two-Face, and that they spent the majority of the movie making me like Harvey Dent.
Even though I knew it would happen I still hated seeing him turn into Two Face.
thats How Venom should have been handled. Introduced but not turned into the major plot device in the last 15 min of the movie. He could've gotten away, and been a super threat in Spidey 4.
Sandman was awesome, and Spidey should've faced only him in the end.
Of course as much as I liked Spidey 3.(I give it a solid C+) I hated that they fucked with Uncle Ben's Death. that was sacrilegious
Box Office Update: KNIGHT Captures Box Office History for WB - Jul 20, 2008 - 05:00pm
ALL HAIL THE DARK KNIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"Best Movie EVER!" thats a direct quote from comic book guy.
I will not argue the sheer genius that id TDK with anybody.
Hanso I always knew you were right. ALWAYS.
IMHO the only people that will find fault with this flick are those that want to sound cool, by not going GA-GA over the same thing that the masses are.
Did Joker steal the show. Of course he did. Not by much, but he did. Check out this FAN FACT The joker steals the show when he's in a comic book fighting Bats. Always has, always will. So it makes sense that he'd steal the show in any medium.
Two Face was SICK Literally and figuratively. I'm glad he'll be back.
I read Nolan won't re-cast Joker. Is that true? I hope not, because I give MAD PROPS to the filmmakers for not killing off the Villain at the end. Breaks the Hollywood superhero mold. I'd love to see another film with at least a Joker cameo in the lockup. Maybe they have some footage that they can use (ala the crow) to show him in Arkham in the third installment.
Some of the reasons TDK OWNS ALL SON!!
1. The love interest dies.
2. They show him getting his new suit, AND explain it. It doesn't just happen without knowing why.
AND the new suit is sweet because it makes him more vulnerable, so the kids that want Batman wearing a grey sweatshirt and are pissed that he has body armor can be happier. Basically he is wearing less armor than in the first one. Making him (like I said ) more vulnerable, like in the comics.
3. He doesn't kill, or let the baddies get killed, he doesn't break his rule.
4. they tied it into Begins by having Scarecrow be in the beginning, thats sweet, it's got continuity.
5. There are plenty more reasons , but hellit's simple TDK OWNS ALL!!!
This movie was superb. Better than Begins , but to be fair it wouldn't have been this good without the character development of Batman Begins.
I am sad Hellboy went to #5 It was waaaaaay better than the first, and felt just like reading a Mignola Hellboy comic. I absolutely loved it.
