I have the idea, from the comments of the "specialists" on the end credits, that the documentary is a hoax. In the end, the "specialists" make comments about having read previously written declarations, laugh about the theories, etc. I believe Room 327 is a "fakumentary" pretty much like that one about the killing of George W. Bush, "Death of a President".

Thanks for this Bob. This movie actually made me angry. The rantings of madmen & bag ladies! As someone who works in the film industry it is ridiculous to do a doc on a movie in which not one person has stepped on a set & has complete delusions about how films are made. (Watch the making of doc by Kubrik's daughter for a real view of the process; daily rewrites minutes before shooting) The rug pattern? It's what they call a cheat. More bang for your buck out of the set for the next shot so they turn it around to make the hallway look longer. The Apollo sweater is clearly a joke. I mean wasn't the point of this how Kubrik loved to f with the audience? The structural inconsistencies are so common going from part real locations to sets. I was honestly waiting for the the call of the wild conspiracy theorist and I got it near the end when the one dude says - "I'm going to be audited after this. The government is watching me." It's so common for these people to say that and what they're really saying is "I'm important and my brain is so smart it is dangerous to others!"

I don't think the theory that this is almost a mockumentary is true but I really hope that turns out to be the case. There's a reason they don't show the people narrirating this - CREDIBILITY!

DrJones610, I saw this movie and in the end they show clips from the "specialists" where they pretty much state that they were actors who did not know what they were reading, and they were all pretending be someone else. At least, that's what I undertood.

I believe I am confusing two movies. I saw one where they had interviews with friends, family, colleagues, and in the end they reveal it was all a hoax. But I just went back to Room 237 and it is not that movie. Sorry.
