Here is the official word on what went on at Petco Park:
Survivors will climb, crawl and slide in an effort to avoid confrontation by hordes of Walkers, while achieving the ultimate adventure on The Walking Dead-themed obstacle course. The Walking Dead Escape is not a race, and Survivors are not timed, but the end is near, and they must move swiftly. If they’re lucky, Survivors will reach the decontamination zone at the end where it will be determined if they have been infected.
What I figured it would be was a walk through Haunted House. A few quick scares and a maybe somebody would lunge out at me. Believe me when I tell you this, this was no haunted house. Using Kirkman’s book as the template “The Walking Dead: Escape” event at Comic Con was a no holds barred, balls to the wall thrill. It was packed with Walkers (Zombies), obstacles, and required a lot of running. In total it took 40 minutes to complete “Escape”. The following pictures and iPhone footage were taken at great risk by me. Enjoy!
When all was said and done this had to be the event of Comic Con 2012. Sure there was a lot of great news and panels at Comic Con but this was special. As you can see in the pictures above Robert Kirkman himself did the “Escape” course. Imagine my surprise and those other people who came out of hell and saw the guy who created it all standing there smiling. While doing interviews and talking to the fans Kirkman signed autographs of his 100th issue. His smile was huge and there was this fun glint in his eye. When G4 asked if he had any problems inside he quickly stated no, he writes this stuff. Events like this is what makes Comic Con the must attend event it has become.
