A new teaser trailer for the upcoming remake of the Spanish horror thriller Rec, retitled Quarantine, has popped up online courtesy of UGO. The film stars Jennifer Carpenter, Jay Hernandez, Columbus Short, Greg Germann, Steve Harris, Dania Ramirez, Rade Sherbedgia and Jonathon Schaech. John Erick Dowdle directed the horror remake, based on a screenplay he penned alongside brother Drew Dowdle.

You can watch the teaser here.

Plot Summary:
In the film, TV reporter Angela Vidal (Carpenter) and her cameraman (Harris) are assigned to spend the night shift with a L.A. Fire Station. After a routine 911 call takes them to a small apartment building, they find police officers already on the scene in response to blood curdling screams coming from one of the apartment units. They soon learn that a woman living in the building has been infected by something unknown. After a few of the residents are viciously attacked, they try to escape with the news crew in tow, only to find that the CDC has quarantined the building. Phones, internet, televisions and cell phone access have been cut-off, and officials are not relaying information to those locked inside. When the quarantine is finally lifted, the only evidence of what took place is the news crew's videotape.

Quarantine will hit theaters October 17, 2008.

Looks like Cloverfield meets Diary of the Dead.....and the one scene filmed with the night vision filter reminds of the escalator scene in 28 Weeks later....that being said, it looks like it could be actually somewhat scary. I may check this out.

Since when did Hazmat crews carry guns? I was never taught to carry a gun during my Hazmat training when I was a wild land fire fighter, must be a new thing with all these killer zombies around these days...
