The Creative Arts Emmy ceremony and awards held on September 14 in Los Angeles provided several genre projects with top honors. ENTERPRISE led the genre pack with two wins, one for best f/x on the series premiere, "Broken Bow," and one for that fanboy fave, Hairstyling, in the Risa-set episode, "Two Days and Two Nights." These awards are the first for the series and to date this season the sole UPN project to score the coveted boat-anchors.
FUTURAMA took home the goods for best animated short series; best f/x for limited run series went to DINOTOPIA. 24 took best single-camera editing, and SMALLVILLE's pilot took best series sound editing. The HBO miniseries adaptation of Marion Zimmer Bradley's beloved revisionist fantasy classic THE MISTS OF AVALON was awarded best miniseries makeup.
The Prime Time Emmy Awards ceremony (that's the big one, kids) will be broadcast September 22 on NBC. Genre shows and geek faves up for more awards include 24, THE MISTS OF AVALON, THE DAILY SHOW WITH JON STEWART, and DINOTOPIA. Jon Stewart look-alike CINESCAPE Executive Editor Eric "Babyface" Moro is not projected to be accepting the award in behalf of Mr. Stewart.
