Genre Films Fade From Top Ten
By: Steve BiodrowskiDate: Tuesday, February 29, 2000
There were few surprises when studios released final figures for this weekend's box office tally. The top four spots were occupied by non-genre films (THE WHOLE NINE YARDS, SNOW DAY, REINDEER GAMES, HANGING UP), with PITCH BLACK landing in the Number Five position. Also in the Top Ten were THE TIGGER MOVIE (#6), SCREAM 3 (#8), and AMERICAN BEAUTY (#9). Other genre films to earn over a million dollars during the three-day Friday-to-Saturday frame were THE GREEN MILE (#13), FANTASIA 2000 (#14), THE SIXTH SENSE (#15), and STUART LITTLE (#18).
