When the final tallies were in, the weekend's box office rankings turned out pretty much as expected. Really, the only question was whether it would be FINAL DESTINATION or RETURN TO ME, in a dead heat, would end up in the #10 position. Final figures gave DESTINATION the edge, with $2.35-million, while the David Duchovny starrer had to settle for 11th place with $2.29-million. The only other notable news for the weekend was that Disney's FANTASIA 2000 scored another $2.41-million in its last weekend of exclusive Imax showings, landing the pic in 12th place. The film's box office take now stands at $49.55-million, even though approximately 80% of the movie-going public hasn't had a chance to see it, thanks to the limited availability of Imax theatres. Disney is now planning a wide release for the film on June 16, which should have no trouble passing the $100-million blockbuster mark.
